.450 Rigby

Nice addition!

I love my Lott. It’s a Ruger RSM. Had it glass bedded, the action worked and new sights installed. It’s very accurate as well, which makes the purchase of another .45 just absurd!
Naw, I've got 4- 375's, but shopping for another, a 404, 5- 416's, 3-458's, 2-470's, and 2-505 Gibbs.

What is absurd is that I don't have any buffalo or elephant hunts booked. :(

And don't you have a 470NE that needs to taste blood also? Get yourself to Zimbabwe or Mozambique, pay the day fees and travel costs but dilute those costs out buy shooting 2 buffalo's and an elephant :)

DSC is right around the corner!

And congrats on the purchase! And thanks for grabbing that. Nicely done! Glad that is off the temptation table;)

.505 Gibbs is next. Always been interested in that round. I’ll be at DSC on Saturday.

Enjoy the 450 Rigby...looking forward to a range report on it.
And good luck with the 505 Gibbs as well, should be plenty of opportunities at DSC to walk away with one.

Maybe they’ll deal on it.

What do you need to produce to buy a rifle in Texas? (besides money)

This is an honest question guys.

In your case As a Canadian, all you need is money and an export.
For a US resident if you are a resident of a contiguous state all that is required to purchase a long gun (assuming there is no law in your home state saying you can not purchase out of your residence) is a valid ID, pass background check, if you are approved, you leave with your new rifle.
If you are a resident of Texas same applies as above unless you have a concealed weapons permit that is valid. The CHL negates the need for a background check at the discretion of the dealer.
Handguns, Class 3 and AOW’s may Be purchased but must be transferred through a licensed dealer in the persons state of residence.
Hope this helps.
Cody

Thanks for buying that one so I could get it off my GB watchlist.
Let us know how it shoots, my local friend has one and it's a great rifle.

Will do. I should have it by the end of the week and hopefully put a few rounds through it by the end of the month.

I've been eyeballing a Sako 85 Brown Bear in 450 Rigby myself. They run $2500 new, so I doubt I can think of a good enough reason as to why I NEED it. But, I sure do like the looks of it! And since I sold my 470 Merkel, and several other 458 Win Mags over the years, I've kind of missed having a 45 plus caliber rifle. Nothing but puny 416 and 375 rifles in my safe now!

.450 arrived today. Very nice wood (as good as I have seen on a CZ), deep bluing. Typical sticky action, but I cycled it about 200 times tonight and I already feel a difference. Hopefully I’ll get it to the range next week and see how it shoots.

I am on the hunt for a George Gibbs 505 at DSC as well.

I have a very nice CZ 505 Gibbs but have decided I really want to try to find a British original instead.

McClelland Gun Shop normally has a booth at DSC.. are you picking the rifle up from there?

I was in their shop just last month here in Dallas... I am almost certain that’s the same rifle I drooled over while I was there...

I’m thinking you will be very pleased with it...

Nice rifle, I was lucky enough to shoot a similar rifle a couple of years ago. For practise the owner loaded up some 350gr(?) felxitip projectiles. I watched the owner shooting the rifle prone off a bipod, smashing gongs at 200yds with it!

the .450 is in Arizona already - I received it earlier this week. It was probably the same rifle - they only had 1 in .450 Rigby!

As "absurd" as life itself. As the famous quote goes: "Every man dies. Not every man really lives" (William Wallace). Congratulations on being fully alive flat8, I am genuinely happy for you.

That is a beautiful rifle. Congrats!

If it shoots like my Sako 85 in 500 Jeffery it will amaze you how small a group with iron sights they will do.
