Those were my grandparent's lanterns.
I inherited their house around 2010 and was 3 of their lanterns here when I moved in.
I still remember the lanterns as a kid, and so brings back some memories. I'm also a prepper and so the lanterns are certainly appreciated.

Whenever power goes out and all we have are the lanterns, I tell my wife that we have to keep them turned down to conserve fuel. Actually its to keep things a bit darker and she dont see me slip out a couple hundred extra bucks while playing Monopoly lol

I think this stock is much better.

The straight classic stock should be much better in terms of handling recoil than the
wood stock you ordered.

Both in terms of comfort for the shooter and durability because of the metal bedding built into it.

THE SAVAGE 110 BOTTOM METAL & MAGAZINE FOR THE ACCUSTOCK

The bottom metal, magazine, and follower are probably the biggest problems/concerns with this particular build, and especially because the .416 isn't common enough to readily find it's parts at places like Ebay, G-nBroker, and even specialty shops.

After a couple months of constantly hitting dead ends with 416 parts, I realized the .375 H&H Mag and the .416 Rem Mag have the same size cartridge base and the same length.
The only difference is a small difference in how each case slopes from its base up to where the bottle neck starts.
So I started getting excited with that realization, but the excitement soon ended because it was also difficult, but not as bad as the 416, to find .375 HH parts as in the way of an actual magazine, or a follower and spring for if I had went with an internal magazine compartment.
Even when I did happen to come across a couple .375 HH parts, the sellers knew what they had, since the price was jacked up sky-high!

So now that I had to change to the Savage Accustock and it requires the use of their brand of bottom metal and magazine, or the use of a another manufacture's bottom metal and magazine, so far I have settled on the company Accurate-Mag since I was seeing a significant number of people making complaints about Savage's own magazines.

When it comes to Accurate-Mag, I rarely see anyone making complaints about the quality or functionality of their bottle metals when used with the AICS magazines.
The main thing I did see was a common issue whereby AICS is GOUGING customers for an average cost of 80.00 DOLLARS for a magazine while AICS expects their customers to do AICS job of sanding and polishing the follower since they drag and sometime get hung up on the walls of the magazine body, and I also seen where AICS expects its customers to sand down the sharp edges of the feed lips.

For 80.00 DOLLARS, not to mention the additional tax and shipping costs that goes with it, is absurd even if the company did its responsibility to clean up the follower and feed lips!

Since Savage doesn't provide a .416 or .375 magazine, I possibly still got lucky enough.
The Accurate-Mag bottom metal will accept a AICS .338 Lapua Mag

The 416 Rem Mag has a cartridge base diameter of .532 and the .338 Lapua Mag has a cartridge base diameter of .587

The 416 Rem Mag has an OAL of 3.6" and the 338 Lapua Mag has an OAL of 3.66"

So my initial thoughts are using the Accurate-Mag bottom metal and the .338 Lapua AICS magazine, and since the 338 Lapua has a bigger base diameter of its cartridge compared to the 416 Rem Mag, I can first try to manipulate the magazine's feed lips to properly hug the curvature of the 416 Rem Mag

I know the feed lips are heat treated but I'm hoping to move them just enough to make a difference that's needed

Two more options.

1. Make your rifle a 416 Ruger,it is the same length as a 300 Win Magnum and has the same ballistics as a 416 Remington.

2. Make your rifle a 416 Rigby, the 338 Lapua is derived from the 416 Rigby case.

The Rigby would require a 338 Lapua Bolt/ Bolt Face.

Either is Ballistically the same thing as a 416 Remington but may be easier for you to put together.
