404 Jeffery - coated HC boolits?

Mostly I load them without gaschecks- reduced/low velocity loads for "range time". I've put a few 44mag gaschecks through the .423" sizer die and they work, but I'm concerned about damage to the die, so my son is making a form to reduce the gas checks from .429 to 423. the only problem is that it seems everything including gas checks have gotten to be scarce.
Yeah, I hear ya on sourcing components these days.

You can use .429 gas checks. Might be a bit of a struggle in a regular lube/sizer though I cannot say as I use a Lee push through and have no trouble with the gas checks.

.429 GCs, okay ... What model # or product # is your Lee push-through GC sizer (so I can order one)? Thanks!

Lee told me that they are too busy to fill an order for a .423/.424 sizing die right now. Ditto for a .404J factory crimp die. I do like their products - good stuff at a very reasonable price.

Thanks.

The .404J fact. crimp die I have. Strange Lee can't get us a simple .423/424 sizing die.

Actually. Lee lists a .424" 'Breech Lock' sizing die and punch as a custom overrun on their website, but it requires the new 'Breech Lock' die carrier set up, which is out of stock. I got excited for a minute thinking I might be able to buy something I needed. But without the carrier the die is useless.

44 cal gas checks work fine, and if you order a custom mold, make sure to say that you plan to use them so you get the correct shank diameter.

I use a Lee push-through sizer die in .425 (custom order). Took forever to get it, and may now be harder still. But a sizer die is not complicated, so if you have a machinist friend s/he could probably fix one. Maybe not hardened, but it will work fine, as resizing lead will not wear it out very quickly.

Jack,
As Mike pointed out Lee is not doing custom sizes at this time. If you have a friend that is a machinist maybe he could open up a .429 push through.

I was able to order a Lee Breech Lock sizing kit from Midway USA today. Then I went to the Lee site and was able to order the Breech Lock .424 die and punch - listed as a custom order overrun. God willing and the creek don't rise, I'll see both by the end of the month. The Lee web shopping experience is grueling so gird your loins.

Yes sir you are 100% correct about the Lee ordering process...... Went through it with the custom .470ne Factory Crimp Die.
