Hello. I've spent hours looking through old posts trying to find the person who did this.

A punt in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Or, if anyone has some insight on the form. I'm assuming it is a total custom outline, judging from the texture. I'm going to tackle this on my own. Actually, helping my daughter with a school art project that may or may not go over like a turd in a punch bowl. Thank you for your time.

I believe that is called a damask and the form can be ordered from the major taxidermy suppliers. They are indeed an interesting mount, but take up a lot of wall space.

Contact @gizmo and I bet he can help you out.

Yes they have become kinda standard in the taxidermy world now. That one does look like a custom back piece that was likely shaped by the original taxidermist.

If you were to believe Dennis Harris (once an AH member, now banned), he INVENTED it :ROFLMAO:

This is the form sold by McKenzie Supply in the US.

Is he still living?

He judged a taxidermy show in Michigan last summer. As far as I know he’s still around and hiding under a rock.

I thought I felt a disturbance in the force…
Now that twitch under my eye is back. Thanks. And probably irritating the rock.

Where is the droid I seek? (Dennis Harris) Or am I to follow a different path?
Thank you to everyone that has responded to my post. The McKenzie Supply form has become my go to. But, I need it to face left.

If I tried to put this in my house my wife would skin me alive.

Taxi supply companies sell just the heads, which could be used to compose a left turn one. The rest can be rather easily constructed with expanding foam and plywood.

You can try to find Dennis Harris. Good luck ! There are about 1,000 other people looking also, I suppose.

I imagine she would enjoy seeing you hang on the wall next to the zebra. ;)

My taxidermist and I are getting ready to do a project like this. I like the one you shared, but we decided to do one closer to this one from karoo taxidermy in south Africa. We ordered a wall shoulder form and plan on cutting it right down the middle. For the shape of Africa, I'm getting a sticker made of the outline to the size we need and cutting it from basic plywood.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
