.338 what?

Uh ohh...those nine point three'rs aren't going to like their beloved chambering chastised in such a manner. Oh well...SNL(sometimes not legal).
I'm going to be loading my 3-7-5 down soon enough. The curtain climber that inhabits the realm will likely not be satisfied with a .243 forever...I can hear @Bob Nelson 35Whelen feverishly dialing long distance to Child Services...I mean a .308/.30-06...no I'm not getting a Whelen...:E Lol:

@Forrest Halley
Get your little fella a nice Savage with 2 barrels. A nice 250 Savage and a 358 Winchester barrel.
With the 358 get in touch with @Rick HOlbert and he will give you his pet loads that make the 358 really perform. That way he can steer clear of the useless 243 and the halfway decent 338.
He would have a rifle to cover all hunting in the USA and 90% of Africa.

You and @CoElkHunter must be drinking from the same cool aid fountain loaded with silly juice.
For both of you to recommend the little 338WM over the Whelen is almost as silly as recommending the 243 as a hunting cartridge.
At least @CoElkHunter has seen the light and got himself a 25-06.
Bob
Well I happen to think @CoElkHunter has fine taste and judgement as well as being an all around likable chap.
I don't particularly recommend the 3-3-8 so much as I have no experience with the cartridge.
Sometimes the light...is a Bundy fueled train...in a tunnel that looks like a 3-5-8 diameter rabbit hole.

I have multiple 338’s, love all of them for different reasons, one thing they all have in common is when the appropriate 338 cartridge is chosen for the animal they work. I can’t imagine why a 338WM doesn’t fit the Bill. The 338RUM loaded properly will work on anything I can imagine killing short of Rhino or Ele. I’m certain with the right bullet and if the law allowed would kill them just fine. The 9.3x64 is also a fine cartridge that as far as I’m concerned needs neither necked up or down. Have fun building that 338
@Bullthrower338
Cody, Cody, Cody. That's the disadvantage of the 338s, you need to have a swag of them to do different jobs. It's a wonder you haven't got a 338 Federal for the smaller stuff.
All those 338s make life to complicated for this little black duck.
Grab 35 Whelen and go hunt shit. In a pinch I would use it on Cape Buffalo, dang I'm going to use it on big scrub bulls next year loaded with 310s at 2,400fps. See simple, one rifle to cover a ll those 338s will do.
If you would like to meet snd discuss it I will bring the Bundy and the Vegemite sandwiches
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
