Anyone have experience/load data for the 338 Norma Mag?

If you’re looking for load data try this site.

There are some forums I’d recommend that have plenty of info but a google search will bring them up.

What kind of reloading info are you looking for? While not a 338 Norma, I have plenty of experience with the 338 Lapua.

I had one that was built by Robert Gradous with a Surgeon Action, Kreiger barrel, KMW stock. I used H1000 with 300gr Bergers 2830 fps.

Was looking at very fine custom rifle in said caliber. Built a number of years ago, but never fired. Was not very familiar with this cartridge. Rifle is old school built on a CZ 550 action and stocked in French walnut.

The 338 Norma is based off a shortened 416 Rigby case. It's shorter and more efficient than the 338 Lapua, it's main purpose is extreme long range sniping and is a NATO round. The above rifle I would shoot out to 2500 yds regularly.

In a sporter weight rifle it's going to be pretty stout recoil. Factory ammunition is all match hollow point ammo, if you reload not an issue. Lapua and Norma brass is readily available.

Unless shots past 400yds are in your future I would opt for the 338 win mag, much more versatile and available.

I say get it. My 338 Lapua loaded with 300gr Berger OTM bullets absolutely hammers game. I have used it on Caribou and a Kodiak Brown bear. Recently used it on a Red Hartebeest and Gemsbok in South Africa. I also shoot mine suppressed. Using a brake is just obnoxious.

I'm using a Ross Shuler 4 port beast type brake on my 338 Lapua improved. Kicks about like a 300 WM. Of course I'm shooting 300 grain bullets about twice as heavy as the 300 WMs. Also 106 grains of powder is a dump truck load. Maybe I'm not comparing apples to apples. Only know that my experience doesn't reduce my rifle to a 260/308. Its still easy to shoot. I can run 50 rounds down range and it's not unpleasant. The brake helps alot with the way I feel recoil also.

Anyone tell me the diff between the 338 Norma and a 340 Wby?
Thanks’

Norma is not belted, requires a .588 bolt face, and has about 10 grains more case capacity.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
