Hi All,

Next project is a 333 Jeffery.

Trawling the interwebs collecting pictures etc for my 'build book'.

If anyone has, or has access to a Jeffery built, real deal, from back in the day, I'd really appreciate some barrel diameter measurements.

Thanks in advance.

Mine is not a Jeffery built, but is over 100yrs old now and I'd be happy to share some dimensions with you if you dont have any luck with the original data.

Thanks Pete - that would be great. I'd appreciate any pics of your rifle that you'd be willing to post as well.(y)

No worries, I will be back home next week and before i head to the bush i will send you some pics and info.

Thanks Pete - really appreciate it

Owner of this rifle is a member her. I think choosing to go for .338" is a smart move.

Hi Tintin, when i was talking to Alan Swan about my 318 WR barrel, he mentioned that he had or was about to do some 333 Jeffery barrels may be he has the details , What action are going to use ? what about dies ? Rebel guns have 1 box of 50 Woodleigh 300 g 333 bullets left in stock I got the last 2 boxes of 250 grain &
resized them to 330 . Best of luck with this project & would love to see how it progresses .

Thanks @rdog - great to chat yesterday

the only problem I would say that gun that i owned pictured above was that it seemed a bit big for the caliber ,, I felt the single square bridge magnum action would be more suited to the 404 than the 333. I know both were built by jeffery in magnum mauser and standard lenght military conversion actions I just thought the gun was a bit cumbersome for the size bullet , on the other hand my 400/350 seems to be just right for a similar caliber and SSB magnum action

thanks @pjaln , mine will be on a std action - probably going to use a Columbian 30-06

are you keeping the bottom metal , or changing ? here's a pic of a 458 I put together years ago ,its standard length action and blackburn bottom metal which was all I could find at the time im not fond of the racy look of it I think there are better options out there now ,I will say if you have gunsmith savvy enough to alter the existing box I would do that as Jeffery was able to do it

Thanks @pjaln - I'm leaning toward just tidying up the existing bottom metal. I don't want to spend the $ for a Blackburn. I used a GunParts hinged bottom once before - it came up OK - but I don't think they ship here.

I've just scored an unmolested '09 Argentine action - a little bit rough but should tidy up OK. I'm leaning toward iron sights only on this one.

Looking to the AH brains trust for ideas on the font to use for engraving on this .333 Jeffery.

I plan to have the serial number engraved on trigger bow, '.333 JEFFERY RIMLESS NITRO EXPRESS' on the barrel, probably along the LH side (and possibly also on the floorplate? .... too much?)

Don't intend to run a scope on this, so thinking about having the top of the front ring stippled.

Keen to hear thoughts.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
