.300 Winchester Magnum enough?

The only animal on my list above that gives me pause on if I have enough gun is giraffe. What is the general consensus on giraffe caliber? Do some outfitters require larger calibers?

The 300 Win Mag will certainly be enough gun for the Giraffe, but, I would recommend using the TSX bullets on it to ensure that you get enough penetration. The problem with the "smaller" calibers on Giraffe using lead core bullets, is that projectiles expand too quickly, due to the thick skin. The skin can be almost 3/4" thick in some places, and once the bullet has expanded, more often than not, it does not have enough penetration to reach where it is needed.
Unless you opt for a head or high neck shot. In that case, disregard everything I just said. :)

Took a giraffe this year with a 300 win mag and 180gr sp bullets aimed 3/4 up his neck at about 80m ....the blonde who was watching from down the valley said his arse hit the deck before his head ......... so yep the 300 win will do it however for heart lung 9.3x62 is about the start of suitable calibres .....imho ......

I am chasing a 300 WM at the moment that is an original Brno ZKK 602 action......if I succeed it will get fed 200gr Rhino solid shank bullets.....should put any giraffe on its arse....and anything else pg wise in the more open or mountainess areas.....
