Took the model 70 375 out for its first round off of the new primos trigger sticks, first shot a perfect bullseye at 100. Felt great, I hate to even try other ammo, I was planning on using 300 grains tsx for my pg safari this year but how bad could these cheap power shocks be? They sure seem accurate- any thoughts/experience?

I used the 300gr power shocks on 2 caribou last year
Both were pass throughs

I believe they would be fine for sable and smaller.

I wouldn't use them on DG, but I think you would be fine on PG.

I think 270g would probably be better than 300g for PG no larger than sable.

A .30/06 with 165g Power-points would be enough. You should be much better than "enough."

Fyi largest animal planning to hunt would be sable
The 300Swift AF in 375h&h on my Sable, Zebra, and Blesbok zipped right through all of them.

Unless you have a commitment to the rifle (some people just have that one they have to take) something like a 308 might help you out (ammo is not as heavy so you can bring more rounds per pound).

I’ve used Federal 270gr Power shocks on plains game a few times. No complaints from either side.

I used Federal Power Shok .375 HH 270 grain exclusively on my first trip to Africa. Only thin skin plains game. That is all you need.

Its decent ammo
All will be fine for plains game
Any plains game incl zebra eland etc
Just not thick skins. Like buff and giraffe

Enjoy

I guess a question is, "have you tried the 300 gr TSXs"? Also, the statement of sable being largest "planned" PG begs the question, "what happens if the mother of all eland pops up"? IMO, eland can be very tough and old healthy bulls tend to be big- rivaling Cape buffalo in weight. Tough bullets like the 300 gr TSX, TBBC or A-Frame out of a 375 are not overkill for eland. Any lighter, faster, frangible, thin-jacketed, non-bonded bullet like the 270 Power Shok out of the 375 can blow really big holes in smaller PG. Also, "cheap" ammo and any big game hunting don't seem to logically fit together very well

Will definitely get the job done with ease… if they shoot accurately and you’re comfortable and confident with the weapon… go with it..

I took my win 70 .375 on my first PG hunt.. shot nosler 260gr partitions exclusively… dropped everything from impala to waterbuck with zero issues…

I’m certain a 270gr power shok will have no issues…

Just FYI. Eland are big yes. But very think skinned and are hunted
More often with 30 calibers then any other

Hello,

I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any additional pics of the .416 Rem mag?

Thank you.
