Okay, earlier I started a thread about use of the .22 Hornet in Africa.

Yesterday, I was doing some research on firearms regs in Namibia. What I found is that there is no caliber restriction in the country (they recommend a minimum .284 cal.), but the minimum ME (muzzle energy) is stated at 1350 Joule, which is approx. 995 ft/lbs. This is their declared minimum for all sorts of critters, including the diminutive Dik-Dik, which I intend to hunt there.

Most loads for the .22 Hornet are going to run around 77 ft/lbs, more or less.
So- If you were me, would you just go ahead and take your Hornet to Namibia, and risk not being able to use it, or opt for something bigger? I really don't want to buy another rifle, when I know this one is perfectly adequate.

what do you all think?

Take it, a recommendation is just that, a recommendation. If you want a bit more grunt, load it with H Lil'Gun, and if that isn't enough, you can always turn her into a K-Hornet.

My Browning A-Bolt K-H will drive a 50 gr Sierra BK at an honest 2900 fps out of a 24" 1-12" barrel with 12.6 grains of Lil'Gun. This load groups 1/4 MOA when seated to 1.89", basically as long as the magazine will reliably take.

I shot my Dik Dik with my PH’s 22 magnum in Namibia, your 22 hornet will be fine
