22-250 for Whitetail Deer

The initial reason for 40gr bullets is the rifle has 1-12 twist the 40 mono is longer than a 50gr cup and core 50 monos did not stabilize so 40 was it the only choice. I would never dream of using soft bullets designed for vermin. The fact that we have never recovered a bullet or lost a deer has to say something. I just didn’t decide to use a groundhog rifle to kill a deer I did do a little research talked to some people who have used monos people who make them and made a decision and even backed up the person who was shooting them until I could see results in flesh and bone. After a couple of deer I realized that no backup was necessary.

I had just turned 6 years old 3 days prior. I was sitting in my dads lap in the ground blind and shot while he was in the middle of a 3…2…1 countdown. 22-250 with probably some cheap cup n core. Dead in his tracks and I had my first buck. Basket 8 point

Is it Badlands bullets or Hammer bullets? Both seem to use the same principal as the ones talked about by the OP. Solid copper with petals designed to shear off on impact.

Hammer--that's it.

As things change around us we tend to stick with what we know it becomes our comfort zone.

@Shawn.54
Things around us may change but if I find something that works I tend to stick with it.
Like accubonds and Woodleigh in my 35
The SST in my 25
And my old Nissan 4x4 with 2 stick shifts and a non computer engine.
At times old is good.
