I had been watching this deer on a cellular game camera. Went opening day and it did not show up. For the past week I had not seen the deer on camera. I thought the neighbor took him on opening morning. Then, he shows up mid afternoon and heads back into the brush before I could shoot. About 4:20 he walks back out and starts out after another buck (the rut has not started yet where I hunt) the other one runs off and present me a open shot and in the back of the truck he goes. Unfortunately, I think he's a little young, he only weighted 126 field dressed. I am used to in the 140's for average.

Very nice buck!
I didn't draw a deer tag this year but my grandson was successful last week on public land and my daughter took a good one on private outside Craig yesterday afternoon.
My son is out hunting now while I'm at work.

I was lucky enough to get this guy off my friends hill country farm
The old 13 pt fell to a .270 130gr Norma oryx
My 1st typical 12pt with a nice kicker , I passed him opening morning in the early light
That afternoon I got a good look at him and he is 6 1/2
The four year drought has been terrible on the deer

Here is a South Georgia whitetail I shot a couple of weeks ago. This is the first deer I’ve shot off of the 130 acres I bought in the summer of 2021. So while not even close the the biggest whitetail I’ve ever killed it ranks right up there with some of the truly big deer I’ve been fortunate enough to kill, given the circumstances.

Some great ones taken so far! I'm chasing a few bucks from the cameras all over the farm. Put some meat in the freezer on Friday with my bow by the way of 2 smaller does. Plan on chasing bucks and shooting another doe with dad's 44 mag just to say I did it. Good luck to all!

Yes. He and I have had many memorable hunts over the years. As good a guide and friend as it gets.

Awesome!

I hunted with Zak and Louise on my first and second safaris...sheesh, 25 years ago?? They are awesome. I'm glad he guides here in Texas during the Fall; gives me a chance to see them.

You took a whopper...congratulations!

Thank you, it's better to have friends and be lucky, than good.

I'll be with him at the first of April, in SA. They are staying with me this weekend for a few days.

I pulled this guy out of the kootaney mountains in canada. For whatever reason their antlers are smaller in the sub population on the west side of the rockies. But the bodies sure have some meat on them!
In the end my father and I each limited on deer and turkies.
