2023 SCI Convention in Nashville

I was told by one of the reps it will be in Nashville this year, then 2024 and 2025, three years total going to New Orleans in 2026

2026 is supposed to be New Orleans, but there is an out in their contract, so would not be surprised to see in Nashville in 2026 due to the overall response and success of this venue.

For a first timer to an SCI Convention it wa
s a good time and I was surprised to discover how big the and how much there is to see for a four day event.

Next year I'll be planning on attending 1 dinner and getting at least a 2 day pass to visit with more outfitters and vendors.

I can see where moving SCI around would be a PITA for outfitters, due to their having to store and transport their booth setups.
As just an attendee, I like the idea of moving it around. Living in OH, I was able to make make the seven hour drive to Nashville. My brother and I drove down on Wednesday, spent spent Thursday and most of Friday at the show and drove home Friday evening. It was so relaxing not to have to deal with airlines and TSA.
it was great to see people I’ve hunted with: Ade Langley (KOS) and Jamy Traut and his team again. I also met a couple of people from this site.
The only ”problem” that occurred at this show was, I think I caught the double rifle bug. Damn those Heyms are nice!
How was your hunt with Jamy Traut. Bought a hunt with them at the auction

So is three days enough to see it all? I am toying with the idea.
Depends how fast you walk or how much time you want to spend talking with vendors. I like to take all 4 days. I split the convention rows into thirds and see/talk everything and everyone. Then I've got the last day to circle back, finalize deals, etc.

I also really appreciated that there were no anti-hunter protestors in Nashville. While usually only small groups, they seem to be fixtures of DSC and shows in Vegas. Nice to not get harassed.

Hopefully, you are not just coming over for 3 days. There is a great deal of beautiful country and history to be found in the Middle Tennessee area. If you do some research you may be able to do it in a vintage Land Rover. If not, it still is a beautiful part of the world even if you have to do it in a modern Toyota 4Runner.

For sure you can get though the show floor in 3 days. You definitely cannot in 1 day. I attended only 1 day this year, but I had a plan and was able to accomplish my main points of contact.

The extra days allow one to wander and dream.

“Like any city” is the only warning you need to know about NOLA. I find that statement an excuse used by politicians in crime ridden cities. Someone said NO is nice to visit but don’t live there. Well Nashville is somewhere I’m now looking to relocate to sine retiring and my experience at this years SCI. Clean, well behaved, no state tax, wow!!

Also see the dates have been moved to better coincide with the other shows.

If you know and talk to people, four days may not be enough. Get a wife or SO involved, your time will vanish.

Kevin might as well do the whole 4 days....after travelling all that way what's one extra a day.... :E Shrug: :E Big Grin:
I agree. I eas thinking of tagging on a trip to Champlins in Enid, but would they be at the show anyway?

I attended the SCI convention for the first time this year because it was in Nashville. (I'm in coastal NC--not close by any means, but certainly not as far as Vegas or Reno.) I enjoyed it thoroughly and will go back if it's in Nashville again. New Orleans? Nope. I lived there 4 years while in grad. school. Great food, but I much prefer Nashville. I have no experience with previous shows, of course, but this one struck me as just about perfect.

You did well.
I did a PG hunt with him in ‘18. Had a great time. I hunted out of his Panorama camp. This is where Jamy actually lives. Colin, the chef is excellent. Game meat lunch and dinners.
Staff is great. Accommodations are in permanent tents on polished concrete slabs.
Tons of game. Even though this is a fenced area, we seldom encountered a fence. And saw animals crossing it at will. Never felt constrained.
I’ve met his other PH’s… all great guys. I hope to do a buffalo hunt with him sometime.

@Kevin Peacocke, you should absolutely plan on attending the SCI in Nashville! I’m still thinking about the great time @Jeff505 and I had. The Dallas DSC is a great show too, but Nashville made an impression on me. The hotels are across the street or no more than a few blocks away. You can’t walk far in any direction without running into a pub or restaurant. Everything is within a short walk…which is good because traffic can be thick. I felt safe everywhere we went. Jeff Ruby’s may be the best steakhouse I’ve been to. We stayed 2 days this year. In the future, we may add on another day to take in some of the sites. The Greenbrier Distillery is nearby. An hour south is the Stone‘s River national battlefield. I’m a civil war buff and it’s one I’ve never seen. Anyway, come next year and I’ll stand you a drink.

They were not at SCI, however they were at DSC.
