So, I posted a little over 2 years ago introducing myself and the plan was to get my own deer stalking rifle and plan a safari for the following year. Naively, I thought it would be a couple of weeks for my licence to arrive (you need a firearms licence with specific calibres listed, approved by the police before you can buy a firearm in the UK). It took a little over 2 years to arrive. That's a whole other saga, that needs a stiff drink or 5 to tell. ;)

I've been shopping and got myself a 9.3x62 Sig SHR970 (I believe it was originally listed on here back in 2023) and a beautiful CZ 550 stutzen in 9.3x62 that needs to be picked up.

I'm thinking of a 7x57, 9.3x62, 375 H&H and a 404 Jeffery for my large game hunting rifles. Those 404's are really difficult to find.

anyways here are some pictures of the Sig 9.3.

Great caliber. Maybe a little more than you need for Any Deer in the UK but nice rifle the CZ will be, why did you choose two rifles in the same caliber ?

The Sig looks nice to .

It is boar in UK , and Fallow and Sika can take some lead they also . Good to have two similar rifles , just in case something happens .with one of them .

That just won’t due, there are no sights. Lucky for you the CZ shutzen comes with sights.

Yes, we have boar, fallow and sika. There's rumours of a heard of red deer not too far from me too

Can you Gents in the UK give a referral for someone to stalk fallow deer in Sept within an easy drive from London?

I will first be stalking in Scotland for Red & Sika Stag and Roe Buck. Then headed to London to visit family and I'd like to get away for a day or two for whatever I can stalk in England in early September.

Thx!
Frank

@rohroh - Couple of questions for you.

First I wanted to congratulate you on your licenses and that SIG rifle is beautiful.

Wondering why you choose the 9.3 and 375H&H? Not that I have a problem with buying more firearms, more that there is a lot of overlap between these cartridges.

Secondly, did I read your first post correctly and that you now have two 9.3x62’s? Again, not judging…just curious. Lots of love for this cartridge.

Ideally, it would just be the 7x57, 9.3 and a 404. However, I'm aware of the 375 minimum in certain countries and will be getting that too, to ensure all bases are covered.

9.3's are not as common as other calibres, so when the Sig came up for sale, I jumped at it.

A short while later, I was travelling for work and popped into the local gun shop and saw the stutzen. It was far too nice to pass up and that's why I have two 9.3's.

I'll scope theone and either keep the open sights on the other or red dot or for boar.

Now I just need to find a 375H&H and 404 Jeffery now.

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
