My first was 10 years in the planning since seeing "Out of Africa" in 1986.So leopard,cape buffalo,sable,kudu,eland . I would have been happy with that except that in my research and talking to others that had been there was expect the unexpected.So I reserved enough money for every animal in the area.I was there 21 days in Zim and used up all my trophy fees. I am glad I did it that way.I left with 15 animals seems like a lot but it would take 2-3 trips now to do the same and 3 times as much money.I am not a rich guy as I work 2 jobs and drive a 30 year truck,Africa gets in to the soul.

If I were doing Namibia I would go for Gemsbuck, Kudu, Zebra and springbok

I went, for the first time, last year. I booked an 8 day trip to S.A. through Cabelas. My buddy and I ended up staying 10 days. I took 2 warthogs, 2 Blue wildebeest, Fallow deer, Impala, Gray Duiker, Bushbuck, Nyala and Kudu. My buddy got an Impala, Duiker, Warthog, Nyala, Kudu and a Zebra. I have about half the money set aside for trip number 2 next year. Same outfit. This time I would like another Kudu, Nyala, Bushbuck, Steenbok, Blesbok and a Mountain reedbuck.

Then you have Farmers , friend of mine He just came back shot Lion, Buffalo . and almost anything he saw first time.

My first and only, though hopefully not last, safari was in Namibia in 2008. I shot a kudu, a gemsbuck, a springbuck, and a blue wildebeast that were trophies. I also shot three culls for rugs, a gemsbuck and 2 springbuck. If I get the chance to go back, I'd definitely take a bigger budget and longer bag list, but the fact that I actually got to go was enough for me. When I was standing next to my kudu, I looked at my PH and said "This was two years in the making and I still can't believe it." Even after 2 years of having it booked and the money set aside, even after getting there and hunting 7of the 8 hunting days I had, it was still an almost unbelievable experience. To this day when I look at my trophies, or the pictures I took, I still sometimes can't believe that I actually did it. And in my opinion, if you can have an experience like that, hunting in Africa or in your favorite spot where ever home is, that's more important than the trophies you took or the amount of money you spent.

Just a note:

Remember that common impala, blesbuck, black wildebeest and waterbuck are exotic species in the central parts of Namibia. The common impala and the waterbuck are found naturally in Namibia only in the far NE part of the country (Caprivi). Blesbuck and black wildebeest are endemic to the central grasslands of South Africa and were originally imported into Namibia.

How did you do ? I am considering hunting Africa for the first time next Spring. I am interested in Bagging several Animals. I am not sure about the Countery of outfitter I choose. Advice ? ..Thanks

I have not gone yet, but leave in 44 days (and 5 hours). When I return I am more than glad to share with you how successful my hunt was and all other aspects that go along with the hunt: PH, outfitter (EAI Outdoors), how my wife enjoyed it, etc.

I will be leaving for my first African Hunting adventure in 68 days (October 30, 2010)

I plan to make a vacation out of this trip and do some sight seeing at the same time on the eastern coast.

However My First hunting trip will be in Western Tanzania...

I have just returned from an 8 day hunt in Namibia where I hunted at Ozondahe Safaris. My wish list was:
Kudu
Gemsbok
Blue Wildebeest
Impala
Warthog
Springbok.

I got all of them and nice trophies to boot! I deliberately left a few species for next time, which I hope will be next year, but I live in Angola, so it is only a 2 hour flight for me to return to Namibia.

My first trip to Africa was Namibia in 2008. It was a rifle hunt. Animals hunted and shot by me, 1 Kudu bull, 1 Oryx bull, 1 Oryx cow, 1 Blue Wildebeest bull, 1 Blue Wildebeest cow, 1 impala bull, 1 Springbok male, 1 Red Hartebeest bull, 1 Burchells zebra, 1 Hartman's zebra.

My son shot 1 cow Kudu and 1 bull Kudu.

It was the best 10 days of hunting I have ever experienced!

I will be on my second plains game hunt in a couple weeks. Archery this time.

Blue Wildebeest!!!!! Fun, fun, fun to hunt!!!!!!!!! I have not killed one yet, but have hunted a bunch. It will be a sweet day when I drop one!

I do plan on adding a Kudu and am thinking about adding a wildebeest (can't decide yet between a blue or black) and /or a bushbuck.
