Your set up will be fine. Study the shot placement book. I feel like I must warn you..... Bow hunting Africa is extremely addictive!!! You will have a blast and prob be planning your next trip before you complete this one
Fresh dug peanuts. Any of my South Georgia people can vouch for this. It reminds me of my childhood growing up in a farm family. It also helps mark the start of fall and our archery deer season. The smell bring up so many powerful memories.
Please do and good luck! I shot my buff with a mathews lift. 29.5 draw length. With 75lb limbs maxed out. Im not sure what it's actually drawing. For buff I used 850 grain total arrow weight 20% foc and a iron will buff 250. I'll probably use the same bow and just build a heavier arrow. What is...
After getting most of the plains game in previous trips. I was lucky enough to connect with a good buff this past August. I just booked a hippo hunt for next year. Now it's time to start building my arrows. I was 850 total arrow weight for my buff I'm thinking I'm going to build a 1,000 grain...
Kuche is what it is. We used them for our first 2 trips. They are good for getting your feet wet in Africa. We have since learned alot and gone a different direction. I won't hunt with them ever again but they do introduce a ton of people to Africa and that's what we need as many people...
The ones I have gotten from him are not painted and they look really good. The shoulder mounts are hit and miss. I have some that look as good as any reputable US taxidermy if not better and some that look mediocre at best.
Ah he called back after doing more checking and is afraid of feeding issues. I have several 98 mausers. I wonder if I could build one of them into a DG rifle??
I reached out to the company posted on page 1 of this thread. They seamed confident that they could handle the work. They are supposed to call me tomorrow with a price.
Your rifle is beautiful and I love the history. Horse wrecks and a snow storm. I follow this page daily but rarely comment. I always enjoy to read your view point on things and it sounds like you have some interesting story's you could tell.
I generally agree with this comment. This was something he picked up and had no significant meaning to him. A pawn shop special. The guns that I consider " his guns" will never be touched. But I feel comfortable taking this from an insignificant impulse buy and taking it to Africa and giving it...
Thanks for the information. I'm an archery guy. I have been to africa a few times. This sprinfield was my grandfather's. I know a 30-06 is fine for plains game but I want to take something that was his and make it mine. The plan is to carry it with me to africa and use during animal recovery and...
I have an 03 springfield that has been sporterized. Id love to find somebody i could send it to and have it converted to 375 and have it refurbished. Do any of you recommend anyone?
I also have a love for old cars. My grandfather bought this 59 pontiac new and my grandparents went on their first date in it. When he passed I bought it from his estate I just couldn't let it go. The others are my 88 foxbody and a 65 f100.
Don't get so caught up in taking all the animals on your list that you miss out on the wonder of Africa. I typically go with a set budget and not a "wish list". In the trips that followed my first I slowed down a little bit an enjoyed Africa so much more.
I feel your pain. My late grandfather was an old southern gentleman we are from Ga and everytime he was in Atlanta he used to say " I wish Sherman would have done a better job"
I took my first whitetail with a bow when I was young kid and never dreamed I would be able to chase big 5 animals. My dreams have slowly become reality after taking a good buff this year. I'm anxious to wait on an elephant because they could put a stop to hunting them at anytime. Does anybody...
