I was there a month ago and didn’t have a single issue and never felt uneasy. I landed in Cancun, was picked up by the outfitter and We drove 6 hours south to the jungle. It was a great experience and I’ll go back again soon to focus on turkeys. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
Peninsula Hunters, Mario Camara. They have an incredible operation. +1 (210) 322-4425.
I just got back from there and got greybrown and a red brocket. The guy likely gets his clients more red brockets that any other outfitter ever. He has a good team also which I think helps. Super nice...
I’m looking for a suggestions of operators to investigate for a free range hunt in South Africa to take my family. I fully understand there are lots of amazing operators with amazing places on huge tracts of land with high fence that “you’ll never see the fence” and the animals are totally...
I hunted with Karsten this past Sept, end of the month. I’d say it’s a good time to be there. Everyone in camp killed both species. Musk ox are not much of a challenge but neat critters. He had major issues with the helicopter company…I’d be really cautious booking the helicopter hunt. He’s...
The Savannah area has many risks beyond poachers. It’s sad as I loved my time there but I can see opportunity dwindling in that region as the years go by. Hunting is likely the only thing keeping the region afloat.
I killed 2 in there a few years back. Very small block, smallest in the Save I believe. Glad to see Phillip no longer has it to plunder the game. Best of luck.
While your there talk to Jacques at @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS. I hunted Cameroon with him in 2023 and am headed back to hunt again with him in 2025. Hard working and honest. You won’t go wrong. I intend on taking my entire family at some point as well.
Flew over end July then back mid August. Wifi for about a few hours on the way there then nothing the rest of the flight. No WiFi on the way back. Plan on not having it. Seat back movies or download your entertainment.
I just called Good Books in the Woods…they say the books are delayed a few more days but shouldn’t be terribly much longer. Expecting around the 28th of June possibly into early July worse case.
As a heads up, should one be interested, they have Wayne Grants other book, Drums of the Morning...
Wyatt is extremely thorough and is great with communication. I’m awaiting a shipment from Cameroon and he has been amazing keeping up with the details for my eland and other trophies.
Used my synthetic stock 375 h&h Browning Abolt on everything from duikers to a 206 yard shot on this LDE with @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS im Cameroon. I used 260 grain accubonds. Leupold Vx5 on top. I’ve used 300gr Aframes on buffalo also. Love the gun.
Hope he has some luck. They’ve been having a tuff go this year. Their hunter prior went 2x this season, spring and then this past 2 weeks, trying to get his bongo with no success. It’s a hunt a really want to do.

When Sitatunga hunting and shooting from a machan do guys typically set up with a solid rest of sorts like a tripod to cradle the rifle? Considering the distance might be fairly lengthy I’m curious as to how the shot goes down and how guys get solid.
Thank you. I’m looking for a gun to use and take some abuse that I’d surely put it thru in all of Africa. I don’t want to buy a safe queen. Really a well used gun was my thought but seems as though it’s a tuff one to find.
Has anyone hunted Tsessebe in the Bangweulu swamps?
I’ll be there in September for Black Lechwe and am adding Tsessebe as well. I know there are thousands of lechwe but curious about the tsessebe numbers. It is a 1 day hunt in route to another location.
Thanks for sharing. I’ll be sure to do that. Do you feel is more durable than an aluminum case? I can for sure see the advantages of it looking like golf clubs.
Anyone that has hunted Forrest Sitatunga, who did you hunt with and were you successful or not, would you recommend the operator? Any other info you’d like share.
