Aren't the RUM cartridges based off the 404J anyway? So the bolt face would be the same?

Ok thanks guys I guess I'll pick up a couple 1000. I'd rather find more magnums, I have 3k large rifle and only 1k magnums but you really can't have to many more days can you.

Yeah at the very least you should get an email reply saying they can't take any more work at this time. That seems a little high to me for a conversion of an existing rifle (especially a $1300 rifle) but if it's the only way to get a left handed 416... God knows it's still cheaper than finding...

Is yours stainless or cerakoted? I haven't seen it in person but he said his looks more like cerakote them real stainless.

I wouldn't think so since the GG and the Alaskan both have 20 inchers and I don't hear much bad feedback about their recoil. I don't have much experience though, my African is the only 416 I've ever shot. I'm working my way up from 375 to 460 or 500J lol.

Really? Hmm I may rethink putting a laminate on my Tikka then, I've always thought the laminated was pretty much impervious to weather that's why they use them for those of us they don't like composite stocks.

The scout stock is cool! To bag it's a lefty a friend of mine has an Alaskan he wishes was a scout and wants the laminate stock for. Everybody says these rifles are too light but they handle great and the kick result isn't THAT bad.

MontanaGrant I have Talley qd's in my m70 375 that are on the right side and they're facing each other over the ejection port and I have no trouble with feeding or ejecting either one. You're right that the cases are the same as is the 300 PRC so I wouldn't think it'll be that difficult. Good luck with it I love my 416 Ruger.

I open with fingers and close with open palm, maybe that's the problem.

Have you had any issues accidentally knocking your safety into the middle position while working the bolt? I've done it more than once just practicing inside but not when I'm actually shooting but I'm not a big fan of the safety so far.

Papa72 these are the equivalent of the med rings that came with the rifle. Alaska Arms makes a lower set but I can't see how those would like up for me at all. The rings are machined and blued perfectly I can't find a thing to complain about in these rings.

I just got a set of the AA rings for my African last Friday and they for and look great on the rifle. I like that they're very low profile instead of thick like a lot of new style rings are. I haven't set my scope in yet but the directions with the rings guarantee within 1/4" return to zero.

I got the 416 Ruger, I did luck out last year and find a really nice M70 375H&H. Yeah the ammo selection is pretty sad and 416 brass is nigh impossible to get

I did the exact same thing with my 416 and ended up with the Ruger African instead of a Rigby. There's a video on YouTube a guy called NYprepper shooting his guide gun with a supressor. Like you said it's not a dream rifle but they are a lot of rifle for the money. Congrats on the new rifle

I know there is plenty of hate here for the Weatherby cartridges like 378, 416 and 460 but why does no one talk about or use the 375 RUM? What I've seen looks like it runs on the heels of the 378W, is it to much kick? Lack of availability? Just curious.

I think a 600 may always be out of my willing price range, though I'd love to have a double some day, but the 500, 505, 585, 577's are at least a possibility.
