I hunted my buffalo in the Save. It was very much a proper hunt. Hunting among the big 5 along the way with abundant plains game as well. Unless they have shut some of it down it is closer to 1,000k acres. I can't speak with any personal knowledge to the other two areas. I don't think you can...
So the easy answer is you can kill a 40"+ buffalo just about anywhere in Africa. But it sounds like you want a truly wild area hunt. So to me that starts to narrow it down to Tanzania, Mozambique, Namibia (Caprivi Area), and Zimbabwe. How much do you want to spend? Looks like you are going to...
Another vote for Doxycycline. I used it for both of my trips. 100mg tablets. Had no issues with using it. One tablet daily. Started 2 days before I left, one every day I was there and continued to take it for 30 days upon my return. Always: Avoid mosquito bites by covering up with clothing such...
This deserves a quote:
“The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa - for he has so much to look forward to."
Richard Mullin
Take lots of pictures. even of the food.
I am an Official SCI measurer. We are not allowed to charge to score a animal. You do not have to be a member of SCI to have taken the animal but you do have to be a member to have it entered into the book. I have never hunted "for the book" to me it is more after the fact, as in how did I do...
Pretty much what everyone else has said. I shot my Blue Wildebeest with a 30-'06 under a 100 yards, 200 grain Grand Slam on the shoulder. it went 60 yards and was stone dead.
Same as above mostly. Cape Kudu for sure along with Cape bushbuck. Then add Vaal Rhebok, and Mountain Reedbuck. Blue diker and Bushpig are good there also. Then anything else you might want.
1.) Horn of the Hunter By Robert Ruark.---- Classic, should be required reading before you are allowed to hunt in Africa!

I used a sling on my rifle(s) for both of my trips to Africa which included dangerous game (buffalo). I guess it it what you are use to. The main point for me is muzzle control not sweeping your muzzle over your PH or trackers. Being able to control direction. And of course carrying it in my...
Rule number one when handling a firearm : ALWAYS treat a firearm as if it is loaded. Period enough said.
Rule number two: never point the barrel at anything you don't intend to shoot. Period. also enough said.
I have met Craig and his wife twice. Once at the SCI Convention in 2010 before my first Buffalo hunt in Zim. He was very nice and spent some time talking to me about Buffalo hunting. The second time was at the SCI Convention in 2012, his wife Donna was fresh off her first elephant hunt and she...
Thanks IdaRam! The backstory is: I have been applying for this tag for 40 years. Never thought I would draw it. I am sure glad I did. So all you folks that think it won't happen keep the faith!
What else are you going to shoot with the 416? It was built to take down buffalo and elephant. Or take them both. Doesn't hurt to have a backup gun. Either way enjoy!
I'm glad you posted this under: Humorous Jokes, Stories or Pictures. But not glad if this is really your final product. How could they expect you to pay for that with a straight face?

I will 2nd Jamy Traut Safaris. He has access to the Caprivi for buffalo. You won't have a bad hunt with Jamy. You can also hunt buffalo in Jamy's new camp in Waterberg.
I like the electric carving knife idea, but I did mine with a filet knife. I always have a couple extra foam inserts, so I can change up the complement depending on where I am going and what I might be hunting.
