Beautiful .375 H&H with Leupold Scope! Ready to Hunt!

We've done a transaction before and it was a great experience, but it was for some 375H&H bullets and brass. Perhaps one of these days I'll be fortunate enough to buy one of your finely curated firearms, but I'm all set in the 375H&H department for now. In the meantime, GLWS! :)

Beautiful .375 H&H with Leupold Scope! Ready to Hunt!

I actually got mine elsewhere; one inherited and one came out of Nebraska; but I love them both. Whoever gets this one you listed will be very fortunate indeed. It is stellar!

Beautiful .375 H&H with Leupold Scope! Ready to Hunt!

Best example of a Whitworth Express that I can recall, and that's coming from a guy with two pretty decent examples. GLWS!

The "basics" for guns in America

Great advice, and all I would add to this is that you can build an upper using a ~$180 Ballistic Advantage stainless fluted barrel in 223 Wylde that is easily sub-MOA.

What did you get yourself for Christmas?

I believe this is the one that @steve white is referring to. I spotted it one day a few months back in the Gun Library at Cabelas in Allen, Texas. It wasn't quite my brand of whiskey, but I posted it to the Good Gun Deals thread because I was pretty certain there would be a member who'd be...

The "basics" for guns in America

The Ruger 10/22 would be a great choice, and a few of mine have turned out to be shockingly accurate. Also very easy to operate, and feed quite reliably with a variety of ammo. That being said, I would recommend an M4 style of AR15 with a collapsible stock, forend light, and good red dot...

Boyd’s Stock for M70, go or no go?

Agreed. My late father put the stocks on the three rifles in that picture; but were I to order one today, I would want to see the picture of my specific stock ahead of time. PS - as an alternative option, the OP might also want to look at Richard's Microfit stocks.

Boyd’s Stock for M70, go or no go?

Apologies for the poor lighting, but here is a trio of M98-style sporters with Boyd stocks: - Top: JC Higgins Model 50 in 30-06 - Middle: FN 1952 in 270 Winchester - Bottom: DWM in 25-06 Point being - Boyds has some nice selections, and I think you'd be pleased with one.

    FN Mauser 257 Roberts

Great looking rifle, and I hope it serves you well. First one I've seen with the double set trigger, that's neat. I have a similar one - FN 1953 in 257 Roberts with an aftermarket stock, Timney trigger, and Leupold 4-12 glossy scope. It shoots Hornady 117gr +P SSTs sub-moa, but I'm only...

    Looking for a new suv

The Toyota options are pretty decent, but it's a damn shame that they have steadily slid from world class products to just better than average. Having worked with them in a B2B context for several years, I can tell you that company is riddled with dumbasses and the decline is not surprising...

FN Commercial Mauser 98 Sako trigger adjustment

Quick update - I experimented with the trigger a little more this evening; specifically focusing on that lower set screw which I confirmed to be the one that alters the pull weight. I was able to get the trigger pull down to right at 3 pounds with reliable function and safety (including the...

FN Commercial Mauser 98 Sako trigger adjustment

Thanks, and yes, that's what I was thinking as well. Adjusting the lower screw did seem to have an effect on the pull weight; just not in the way I was expecting. I will experiment with it a little more.

FN Commercial Mauser 98 Sako trigger adjustment

Earlier today I picked up a late 1950's Marlin 455; which is a post-war sporter based on a commercial FN Mauser 98 style action, Marlin micro-groove barrel, Sako trigger, and Bishop stock. These were made from 1955-1959, and this one is in 30-06. The gun is in pretty good shape overall, but...

    Warne 98 Mauser Unaltered bases

I recently installed some aluminum two piece bases on a 1940 Sauer & Sohn M98 8x57 that still had the clip boss. A previous owner had drilled and tapped the receiver (two holes in the rear with standard 0.5" spacing), but there were no bases when I bought it. I had to do some careful filing...

Which firearm do you have to most fun shooting

+1 for the TX22. I am convinced it is currently the best kept secret on the firearms market. I have two, one for my wife and one for myself. Light, accurate, durable, low priced, and eats any ammo i put in it. I recommend them to every gun owner i know. Mine gets shot almost every...

Contrary to the positive sentiments that are popular in this thread, the 7mm-08 (much like the 30-06 cartridge discussed in an adjacent thread) is a wholly outdated and inadequate cartridge for field use in any current day hunting scenario; and as a result, any unwanted vintage walnut and blue...

    7mm-08 -- the forgotten caliber

I concur. The only reason I haven't sought out a 7mm-08 to acquire is because I already have multiple 7x57's, and so a 7mm-08 would be practically redundant; however, I won't turn down a deal if I ever find one that I can't resist. For whatever reason, I've always romanticized that caliber...
