Phillip Hennings owner of Khomas Highland Safaris has the space and private land to accommodate such a group. I have dreams of taking a group there. Good luck.
I use 400 grain woodleigh's for buffalo and 295 grain raptors from cutting edge for plains game. Those raptors are devastating on whitetail deer and African antelope. The raptors shoot 1 inch higher than the woodleigh’s.
My family and I have many Leupold’s, some are 40 years old with no problems. Post covid seems to be the problem. I have vx-3 and vx-7 on my DG rifles and no problems. I’m hopeful they are getting their act together and back to the quality we were used to 20 years ago, that’s why I’m asking this...
The last one I had was a 5HD 3-15. After about 3 months it started shooting 6 inch groups. I sent it back. All was good for 6 months and then starting shootings 6 inch groups. Leupold sent me a list of everything they repaired. I didn’t know there was that many parts in a scope.
My last two new Leupold’s have both went back for warranty work. I’m wondering what experience folks are having with their 3HD with CDS. I like the small size, but don’t want to waist my money if the will not hold up. Thanks.
I have spent a lot of time learning to shoot a 458 win mag. Probably would not have had I only shoot full power loads. Being a reloader I shoot mostly light loads. I suggest finding a friend with a 458 and shoot several full power loads before you buy. Sounds like you have a 375 H&H that you...
We all need to remember we are Americans first and state residents second. This whole idea of non residents paying for state residents hobbies on land we all own needs corrected.
Check with your PH the laundry schedule, then don’t duplicate clothing. Shirt pockets are super handy while your on the safari truck. Last year in Namibia one morning was 24 degrees Fahrenheit in the morning and 80 in the afternoon. Dress in layers.
My first flight from Washington DC to Cape Town will be non-stop United. Then I’ll be flying code share from Cape Town to Windhoek on Airlink. The entire flight is booked on 1 ticket that I bought with reward miles from United.
I have already booked the flights. I have flown through Ethiopia many times, but those seats were already taken. I’m one who prefers to learn things. A DIY guy. Admittedly sometimes those lessons are learned the hard way.
Has anyone flown from Dulles to Windhoek going through Cape Town. United has booked me through Cape Town to Windhoek, Namibia. Anything I should know or pay attention to on this route. I will be traveling with guns so I know I need to get them permitted for the Airlink portion. Should I get...
I was shooting my 458 win mag today with 300 grain TSX traveling 2623 fps. Shooting 1 inch high at 100 yards it was shooting 4 inches low at 200 yards.
I have spoken with him in Harrisburg several times over the years. Last February he told me he sold his ranch and was partnering with another property owner.
That’s awesome! I’m glad someone got it and is planning on taking it to the field. It is one amazingly beautiful rifle. The engraving is over the top. Happy hunting!
458 win mag with 400 grain woodleigh’s traveling at 2525 fps. Its taken 3 Cape buffalo to date and all three have a very dramatic reaction to being shot.
As soon as they can handle the flights and medical needs (shots) are considered. There is a big difference between potential exposure to bad diseases in different locations in Africa. If they are too young to accurately shoot it’s okay to tag along. If they are old enough to get on a school bus...
I’m have some 570 A-frames coming to be loaded in my 500 Nitro and can’t seem to find load data for them. Does anyone have a pet load that hey would be willing to share? Thanks
I’m trying to decide what type of mounts and red dot sight to put on my Blaser S2 in 500 Nitro. I seen an ultra low rail made by Gunstar that was interesting. Of course Blaser has their red dot with mount combined. My concern is getting the sight too high. Any suggestions?
I think you would love Namibia. Lots of open space, lots of game, and safe. I have hunted with Khomas Highland Safaris several times and always leave planning my next trip. I have also hunted with Jamy Taunt. They are also top notch. Good luck and enjoy the planning.
I’ve made the trip to the dungeon 8 times. Select seats in rows 11, 12, or 13. That will get you off the plane quickly. If there isn’t someone standing there with your name on a sign go towards customs and tell the first agent with a green jacket you have a tight schedule and you need to check...
I seen an amazing Blaser S2 375 h&h at Hendershot’s the other day. Highly engraved with super nice wood. Not sure where you are located, but Lance takes it in trades.
