Took Hammer bullets to Namibia, 195 gr in 300PRC, with great success. Kudu, warthog, waterbuck and giraffe. All one shot kills.

Gentlemen, I enjoy looking at everyone’s reloading benches and rooms. I wish I was better organized as some of you. It’s difficult to build your bench or storage too big. I am glad to see some of the extensive collections of supplies, something of an inspiration.

Scheel’s will have everything you need along with very friendly helpful staff.

I like Barnes TSX, Swift A-frames and Hammer bullets for African safaris. They all have worked well. It’s the least expensive part of your trip and the only direct interaction with the animal. Also recommend you study the shot placement in Dr Kevin Robertson’s book “The Perfect Shot”.

Have used Hammer bullets in 300 PRC with great success. I’ve not measured the bullets to the ten thousandths place. Call Steve Davis he’s usually available to talk and seems like a great guy.

I had ordered one same day it was offered by EuroOptic but cancelled when it wasn’t delivered as promised. Really disappointed as I wanted to take on safari last October.

@PARA45, wife and I used GunFoam for trip to NZ. Excellent product although pricey if you take different rifles.

I also used Magpul Velcro straps to tie down the guns and bolts. Adding the soft cases on top really helps hold securely. Plus depending on placement of the spacers very little to no movement. Talked to Magpul rep at SCI Nashville who said just buy some extra spacers and trim to get a tighter...

Most recent trip to Namibia. Pelican V800 with Magpul DAKA grid, I lay soft cases on top for extra protection along with copies of paperwork. I’ve cut foam and bought custom foam in past but this allows more flexibility to take different rifles.

Jennifer booked us ATL to Cape Town then onward to Windhoek our last trip. Airport seemed much nicer than Joburg. We did overnight at Afton House, quite pleasant after the long flight.

Recent trip to visit multiple National Parks and Monuments. Hit a mother lode in SW Colorado, lots of allocated Buffalo Trace, hard to find in Kentucky. Probably went a bit crazy but not sure when I’ll get back there.

Welcome Paul, absolute wealth of information is available to you here. Lots of reputable outfitters can provide quotes if you have a list of specific animals. Wife and I have done both South Africa and Namibia, great experiences in each. Good luck with your choice.

No one has mentioned lechwe yet. Wife shot one in Namibia that was absolutely delicious. Everything has been very tasty. Had warthog once, was very chewy but good flavor. Have bought several custom or semi-custom rifles, optics, suppressors and fur coats at SCI over several years in addition to booking hunts. Most have offered a show “discount”. Have even purchased Swift bullets because they were there and available.

I used the DAKA system recently on trip to Namibia. V800 vault with 2rifles. Kept everything secure, like OP said smaller blocks would be more versatile.

Wife and I have used Hammer bullets on two trips to Namibia. They worked great on all shots. Glad to hear about the bullets for tiny 10, Miranda shot 3 of the 10 this last trip.

Trip to New Zealand on return, rifles spent the night in Houston but were forwarded the next morning to Louisville. Had AirTags in each case. 4 trips overseas only glitch.

I am not built for off the shelf shotguns and have had great success using Graco out of Arkansas to cut the stock. A local smith might be an option but no one nearby offers that service. Having stock cut for you gives many more choices. Good luck.

@skydiver386, again thank you for our hats last year. Wife chose camo while I have OD, very nice. I’d vote for Carhartt brown with either gold or dark brown stitching.

I have couple Swarovski and Schmidt&Bender scopes with capped turrets, most of my scopes I dial. Does anyone calculate for mpbr and zero rifles accordingly? Again I know most African shots are 150 or less. Thanks for your input.
