I have encountered some anomalies where I plotted a point on GPS and when I referred back to it a few feet away it was over a mile per the GPS. I use an all above approach. Garmin GPS, Base Map on the cell phone with offline maps downloaded. Topo map, compass and map tools. Mytopo dot com has...
I had mine packed in the crate with the trophies, no issues as long as it's declared on the paperwork. It was taken from a poacher in Zim. A small antipoaching donation was all it cost.
Welcome, originating from the east coast I had the same idea. It will not take long around here to go down the big bore bolt action rabbit hole. Best wishes on your hunt. John
I have a set of stocks for a Marlin 336. Claro 80% inlet (I believe 80%?) cost $750, estimated $1600 to fit and finish by a smith. I had the smith buy them from Treebone Carving.
$225 shipped. Stripped with a bag of parts to go with it. Another member reached out. He will have preference if he passes I'll let you know. I'll send you a PM
Yes sir that was my original intention. I have a P17 completed action and a P14 stripped with a bag of parts. If anyone is interested let me know. I haven't posted an ad as yet due to work requirements.
Sporterized P14 barreled action 303 British. Matching serial numbers on bolt and action. Nice patina except where the action was machined and cleaned up shiny. Bore is decent. Never fired, bought used. Another unrealized project. $400 shipped FFL TO FFL. Includes about 60 Herters empty cases...
1903 Remington action 400 Whelen chambered rifle. (full SN blurred by me) Dies and 77 new proper head stamped basic cases. The pistol bullets are on me for plinking or fire forming. I bought this rifle used and haven't had the chance to load and feed it. The rifle feels good in hand and comes up...
Put a dab of Kroil on the rust spot. Let it soak for a few then gently rub the spot with 0000 steel wool. That's what was recommended to me by members here a while back. Worked well. It will leave a bare unfinished spot but my wife was ok with the few shiny spots.
I picked up a CZ 458 Lott AHR #2 a while back. Really just cause I never shot one and all the horrible recoil talk. Found a M70 458 Win mag early this year. Figured I'll see what all the bashing is about with a legit comparison. This thread is extremely enjoyable and informative. Thank you...
Great cartridge that MDM. The only animal thus far taken with it. 450 gr CEB at 2300 fps. I carry it in WY around grizzly country. New stock in the rifle pic
Mitchell Supply in Great Falls MT has a CZ in 375 H&H. They say it's new and the break is factory. The stock has some scratches but for the price you can't beat it if you are in the market.
Mr Mcourry went to marking both calibers on the barrel. Mine says 375RUM/ 500 MDM. 300 RUM/458 B&M would be engraved if you wished. I didn't have an issue on my sole trip FWIW.
Keep tabs on that guy up there. He is a big bore fan. He has some interesting stuff on the rack every now and agin. He had a 505 Gibbs for sale (before my time) and he bought it just to shoot it or something along thoes lines. I have seen No 1's in 375 H&H, CZ 416's. Even a bench rest looking...
Glad you found it! Also glad I wasn't bidding against you. Few days before I found this I picked up a M70 super grade 458 win. Now I can see what all the hulla-baloo may or may not be with this cartridge. I have an AHR 458 Lott to compare the 2 cartridges. Beating a dead horse but I have to...
@WI-2021 The second roadblock is recoil. I don't have any problems shooting the .375's, but I've never shot anything bigger (unless you count some truly vicious 12 ga. turkey loads), so I don't know where my recoil tolerance ends. I'd hate to throw a bunch of money into a big bore and find out I...
