Yes I'm already planning the next trip. In fact my wife started planning the Namibia trip for next year last July, during our first trip. As I mentioned, this trip was a quick planned trip from January.
The next morning we got up late and packed up to go to Odensdaalsrus to meet Joe Regal and his Son Nathan Regal. There is a small Lodge that we stayed at on Joe's property where he also has his Taxidermy business. Wow, I was amazed.
We went out for a Dove shoot for a few hours with Nathan. Then...
After we harvested my Blesbok we were going to put Electrical tape around his horns and send a picture the the Lodge Manager/PH who was out with other clients. There is a pet Blesbok on the property that they have taped up the horns on, apparently he came up behind some people in the past.
I...
The afternoon of day four was Blesbok day. Once again the Tracker Jeffery and my PH put me on the animal. I used Stuart Pringle's .270Win with the loud silencer.
We spotted the Blesbok and stalked him for a bit. I was lined up for a chest shot and as I squeased the trigger, he turned. I hit him...
So we were in Lion country. I was the tag along guy. The other hunters were after Lion. My good friend and hunting buddy was going to take one with a bow. They had a tough day on day three and pushed the Lions a bit too much. The grass is tall in the area due to higher than normal rains...
The afternoon of day three was Gemsbok day. Another long afternoon of tracking and walking. There was a herd that winded us and we bumped them a couple of times. Then Jeffery the tracker did the sudden stop and said "Gemsbok".
Here are a few pics of the area we hunted Eland. We tracked them hard the second day of the hunt. The third day we figured out that he split from the herd and we went back and tracked him in about two hrs. Day three we walked about 14km in the morning. Day two we didn't check how much we walked...
All finished up in the Kalahari. We are now in Odendaalsrus at Joe Regal's taxidermy. He has a Lodge here for wing shooters mostly but the odd rifle hunter stays here as well. We went out for some Dove Shooting this evening, heading back out tomorrow for a couple of hours in the am. Flying home...
Ok, made it to Joburg and the guys dragged me to the hunting expo. WOW. What a show.
For some reason I can't attach photos via the phone right now. If the smart guy shows up, maybe we'll ask him for help with it.
I got to handle a few Rigbys at their booth. Fine firearms.
Well I'm on the beach in Luanda. 5am wake up for my flight down to Joburg. Having a much needed Adult Beverage after 29 days at sea. The crew should be just leaving Europe for Joburg.
The crew are packing for their flights this afternoon. I just found out I will get my passport back from the government tomorrow when I get to the beach. I can't wait to eat a burger and fries tomorrow.
The BRNO is a ZKK 602 in .375H&H. I had been searching for it for a few months and found this one around Christmas time.
As for packing and passports, I packed in March when I left to come to work. I needed my passports then. However one of my passports is on the beach with the Angolan govt...
Sitting here on a Drillship off the coast of Angola waiting for the last three shifts to be completed.
Then it's a Thursday trip by surfer boat to Luanda, overnight. Then a flight to Johannesburg to meet up with the group.
Then we head to the Kalahari where I'll be hunting for Eland, Gemsbok...
http://jonssonworkwear.com has some great clothing. I bought some pants and shorts while down there, shirts I picked up at different places.
Good quality gear at good pricing.
I've Hunted with Stuart as well in the Hoedspruit area of Limpopo, July 2017. Stuart was excellent for me as a first time hunter to Africa. Stuart is a wealth of knowledge and very entertaining as host. I hope to hunt with Stuart again in the future.
I have not fired mine as of yet. We are going to put rings and a scope on it and hopefully find some ammo for it. Availability of .375h&h on the East Coast of Canada is slim and expensive. Looks like I may have to break down and buy reloading gear.
Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone has done a stock swap on a BRNO ZKK 601. I just purchased one and I'd like to go with a different stock but I'm having trouble getting information. Will this action fit a regular 98 stock or perhaps a 550 or other CZ stock?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Dane
Just picked up a ZKK 601 in .308win for $340USD. Stock is all Bubba'd up but the action and barrel are in great shape. Now to find a donor stock or even a synthetic.
Well, I finally have a tracking number for an 1987 BRNO ZKK 602 in .375H&H. A grand total of 68 rounds fired through it to date. I should have it by the end of the month. It cost me about $750 USD shipped to the house. I'm a happy man.
Abenson229 that sounds like a nice find. I have advertised here in Canada for one as well.
Ultimately I hope to find one in Canada so I can avoid the 30% difference in exchange rate. However finding one is like finding a needle in a haystack.
That's all in somewhat of the plan but first I need the base rifle to start with. I'm in no rush so paying top dollar for a base rifle in less than 7-8 out of ten condition doesn't make sense.
I don't need the rifle, I just want it. Lol. I need to be patient.
