This isn't a project, it's not paid for by the government or sanctioned. These were neighbors from 10-100(s) of miles away making time and risking their livelihoods and lives to build a road so people could get back to their homes or what left of their property from over a month ago. They...

The “458 Winchester Magnum, all the cartridge you’ll ever need” thread

Campfire anecdotes from a previous era. These stories linger on ignoring decades of advancement in bullet and powder tech. There's always going to be operator errors and/or mechanical issues that will arise, but no different now than any DG cartridge. The 458 Win is as formidable as most.

In any effort to divert attention away from a trolling member... Let's give it up to the WV miners. Getting a passable thruway into Chimney Rock in a matter of days was no easy feat. Still a long road ahead of the impacted areas, but the comradery shared between the people of Appalachia is a...

    460 Weatherby opinions?

Mine dropped in its tracks at less than 20 yards. What baffles me most owning and hunting with a 460 Wby is the larger than life tall tales it has garnered. Follow the rules of any big bore. Make sure the rifle fits you, make sure you can handle it, and practice correct form. The 460 Wby is...

A Great Outfitter, Person and Friend Lon Denny Has Passed

Very sorry to hear this news. His knowledge and experiences were, and will remain, a treasure to all African hunters. Though grieving now, I hope, and know, his family will continue on and I will smile seeing the @Tokoloshe Safaris posts continue Lon's legacy.

General Milley lost a lot of respect with the Afghanistan withdrawal and the decision to abandon equipment. Trump has a sound bite going around on that subject that is hard to disagree with. Now, years later, the equipment left is being seen conpletely operational in China, and in the hands of...

416 Rigby vs 458 WinMag a civil discussion

There has been a lot of research done on the 416 B&M and 458 B&M. Probably more done on the 416 and 458 in modern projectiles side by side than any if the large manufactures in both test media and in field. Michael's testing over the years is likely one of the best resources for 416 vs 458...

416 Rigby vs 458 WinMag a civil discussion

@michael458 would be the one to confirm here. I believe I have seen data on the 416 B&M going 60+ inches of penetration and the 458 getting 40+. That said, I'm sure he has done tests on the dame media and can offer more controlled results.

I was in Canton, NC last week Weds-Sat. Luckily got out Saturday over the mountains but unfortunately had to leave our friends we were staying with as four extra mouths to feed with no power and no cell service was not a hardship I would put on them. Watching it unfold in person real time was...

Mark Robinson was propelled to a political status he was never meant for. I lived outside Greensboro and remember when the famous meeting happened that thrust him into spotlight. Franchi Instinct O/U Shotgun Opinion Sought

I shoot a Franchi Instinct SL in 16 gauge almost exclusively during upland season. This will be my 3rd season with it and I have been extremely happy. Only days it's not carried is when it's extremely wet. For a production gun as long as it fits, it's a great choice. My brother bought a 12...

How many client hunters have been charged, and how many have been hurt or wounded while on Safari?

Driving back to camp at the conclusion of the hunt in the Save in Zim we passed a watering hole. An Elephant herd had been there and took to the trees as soon as we came into sight. While passing, a large Cow with what may have been a dependent calf came back out trumpeting. We were more than...

    Leupold fxii 2.5 power fail

Backing up @WAB . For the scope to separate, the front ring may have had an issue being the rear seats in the notch on a CZ integral mount. Scopes can always have failures, but that failure while mounted is extremely odd. That said, Leupold will make it right.
