Sounds like you'll be ready to go. Should be a great hunt. I'll look forward to your hunt report. At over 2300 fps I understand the recoil of the .404 being snappy.

Hi Jon. Nice rifles. Just an FYI the mod's are going to remove your phone number as soon as its noticed. Against the rules. You can give it to a prospective buyer via PM. Most folks are going to want to know the length of pull and about how many rounds have been fired through a rifle.

Very nice buffalo and an even better story. Tsala is a great outfit to hunt with. Glad you had the chance to hunt with them. Glad your health allowed you to make the trip to Africa. My wife donated a kidney to a family friend and worked several yrs as a dialysis nurse. I know what you go through...
Nice AJ's for sure. They put up a great fight. A couple of questions on the fishing. Obviously you were after big tarpon. When is considered the best time of year to go for them? Were there other saltwater species that were available? Sounds like an interesting place to go.

Hunting license PER DAY. That seems like they are just flat stealing from you. I'd have a tough time letting that one pass. But I'm also cheap.....

I had read on another forum about the Federal 215M in stock. They are not now. Midway does currently have 215's in stock. Discussions I have read indicate that the 215M is only different from the 215 in that there is some sort of additional inspection.

On my MP hunt in Kyrg I was asked for tips for additional people supposedly in camp. I asked what they had done for me or the hunt. My assistant PH couldn't tell me so I told him no tip. Bullcrap IMHO.

Very generous offer. I'm sure it will be a great trip. Wish I was able to go but am scheduled to retry my Bongo at that time frame. Best of luck!

Mike I'm so sorry to hear about this. Sounds like a first class mess. I hope you can keep your pond clean.... This sounds like years of problems. What a pain. Best of luck.

I still remember falling several times on a slippery slope in New Zealand. Beginning of my knee problems. Tore one up and finished that hunt eating way too much tylenol. Had each knee scoped 2 times before the replacements.....

My last trip to Kyrg I was hunting Marco Polo sheep. I had lost a day due to airline screw ups. Then the hunt didn't go the way anyone wanted it to. On the second to the last day I missed a 500 yd shot. My guide was so disgusted he picked my rifle and shot 2 times at the running rams! The last...
I'll be back with them in 2025. I'll be in the 2nd group that they take. My understanding is that camp is rapidly filling up. I had some of the meat turned into jalepeno cheddar sticks. They are really good. Everyone loves them. Only had 10 lbs done that way. If I get a bear this year I'll do...
If you spend a while looking at hunt reports many have talked about the process of selecting an outfitter/PH for a hunt and that would answer many of your questions. Like Brickburn says each country has their own regulations and in RSA each providence has their own.

My dad would usually skin an animal and hang it where cool. The colder it was the longer he would allow it to hang. I still remember him smelling the the meat. He'd put his nose up very close between the quarters and taking a long sniff. He said when you got the first whif of mold it was ready...
I am left eye dominant and do most else right handed. I shoot a right handed rifle as a lefty. I'm still pretty fast with a second shot if needed. Just ask @LivingTheDream about that.

Great ram and yes hiring a guide is the best way to go for 98% of us. Too hard to get a tag and know where they will be at that time of year. Great job. Congrats

The simple answer is yes. First you need to determine if the diamonds warrant the expense of having this done. Under 1/2 ct probably not. Over 1 ct probably yes. In between maybe. Usually the diamonds should be removed from the mounting and then sent to the GIA (Gemological Institute of...
Last Aug killed a bear in Ontario. Froze the meat and came across the border without any issues. Bear was very fat and has been good eating. We drove and those in camp indicated customs usually didn't bother inspecting their bears.....

As a Gemmologist let me give you the rundown on a Lab diamond vs a mined/natural diamond. They are essentially the same. I can't tell the difference with a loupe, unless its laser inscribed LG (lab grown) on the girdle and that can't always be seen with a loupe. There is a nice little testing...
A Hornady scale like you describe often will vary loads by a grain of powder or more . Usually not a big deal in the bigger thumper calibers. It’s a big deal in a long range smaller caliber rifle. I also wondered about your headspace and case length. I don’t like the sounds of a primer backing...
I got a pair of these last September. Incredible optics. Took them elk hunting. You might not want to backpack hunt with them. Sure are clear with excellent resolution.

There are lots out there that don't like them. For me they just flat out kill. Here is a thread I started on them a few yrs ago:

Since this thread I've been back to Africa again and used them with excellent results. Use some...
Great family to hunt with. Honest and hard working. Great food. Here’s a link to my hunt with them a few years ago:

Dang that sounds rough. Hopefully fellow hunters can pull together for him. Being awake is great. Sounds like a long road to recovery tho. Prayers……
