Pure conjecture on my part, but I’m thinking that if a PH requests you leave the chamber empty, most of the time he has watched you handle your rifle, and it ain’t giving him warm fuzzies. I could be wrong. :cool: Nope.

No way in hell I’m hunting with an unloaded rifle. Demonstrate you know how to handle your weapon when at the range with your PH and at all times practice muzzle control. I try to make sure he sees me load and set the safety when we set out from the truck, and try to always be sure he sees me...

Agree 100%. However, after listening to tales from a buddy that hunted buff in the swamps of Mozambique I swore “never for me”! I’ve been fortunate to hunt mine in the dry forests and hills of Zimbabwe, along with one in similar terrain near the Kruger.

I’ve shot all mine between 25-35 yards. Bolt actions. Scoped rifles. I could shoot them at a longer distance, but I don’t want to shoot them at a longer distance.

I think that what’s often overlooked is relativity of costs. Is it silly to spend $800-$1000 on a hat? What if you make $10,000 to $20,000 a day? Some people on this forum make that. Several, I would wager. Inconsequential. If you make $200-$400 a day, would be completely...
