This is the fWW mark on my .458WM.

Correction: should be “Wurzburg” instead of Wurtzburg.

The FWW is Frankonia Waffen Wurtzburg, a German gunmaker who is still in business. I believe it was Rookhawk who helped me identify the maker of my .458WM which has the same FWW marking in that vertical configuration.

Well, now got me thinking…again. My Mark X .416 doesn’t either. I installed a PTG 3 pos on my M98 .458WM so guess the CC gonna breathe again.

Must have iron sights, period. I grew up in these piney woods hunting nothing but open sights and did not own a scope until my early 20’s, and that rifle was only scoped for a traveling hunt where ranges could actually reach 100 yds.

The .416 Taylor round on the right has a set back shoulder from forcing the bolt closed on a rifle that had a barrel installed without finish reaming to SAAMI spec.

What does the brass look like after you chamber a fresh round, then eject it? Compare that ejected round to another fresh & unchambered round closely: look to see if the shoulder has been set back on the chambered round. If you have a 20ga bore brush soak it in Hoppe’s and scrub that chamber...

I have located a couple laser checkering outfits online but all use exactly what you described…smaller machines that have a max table of 31” and cater to shotguns.

+1 on the African’s factory stock being too thin. I am a tall guy with long fingers and need more wood in the wrist area and I suspect most folks would agree. I purchased mine online without having handled an African so here we are.

That is the exact NECG Masterpiece banded sight I installed on my rifle so at least porting is possible. I’ll call them.

I would not port a rifle of that quality either. I don’t think I would pass on any rifle that I could afford that was ported, but that affliction ain’t struck me recent. This .416 Ruger is a project rifle and a perfect before/after test bed but weather has me stalled from the range presently.

According to their website, I am limited to 2 slots due to the banded front sight on this rifle.

Great input from all…thanks. Seems those that have owned or used a Mag-na-Ported rifle are favorable overall. If it even slightly improves my shooting experience with this .416 it’s worth the $120.

I was focused more on the benefit of reduced muzzle rise but any reduction in recoil without the excesses of a true brake would definitely be a plus.

Yes sir…adds 1 extra round for .375 or .416.

Forgot to mention that I removed the action and added a little TruOil to a couple of bare spots on the wood that the factory scrimped on. I also sealed the wood under the extenders/butt pad.

I’m a little confused. Just got off the phone with Shaw Barrels, and they told me an FFL is not required to USPS a barreled action to them. In fact, he stated Shaw does not furnish their FFL info to anyone. Just curious if anyone has sent receivers via USPS without furnishing FFL info at the PO?

I also have both Warne (30mm) and AA (1”) rings and both are excellent IMO. Personally, I prefer the AA rings’ horizontal split to the Warner’s vertical clamp style arrangement but that’s aesthetics mostly. AA’s larger levers seem to release easier for me also.
