    30-06 loads

Thanks for all the replies folks, At the moment I`m shooting 3/4" groups with federal factory ammo and as soon as I have enough formed brass stored up I will have a play with the powders suggested. I did manage to shoot this Sika stag with the 30-06 a couple of weeks ago and it went down on...

What Do You Expect from a Show Stand?

Just to echo Jacques comments, thanks for the input. Macs - good points there especially about the cc payment systems but are the Brits really all that badly viewed? I`m not put out by your comment just interested in why we come across as "stuffy".

    30-06 loads

Thanks Scott, This rifle has only a 20" barrel so it will be interesting to see how that affects the velocity. Charly

    30-06 loads

Hi Guys, I`ve just purchased a Sako 75 S/S in 30-06 and plan to run a 150grn projectile at around 2800fps. Does anyone have a good powder choice that might give me more fps? Interestingly I found a link through google to some reloading data that included a load for 30-06 with a 93grn head...

    "THE EMPEROR" .375 H&H Magnum

Hi Monish, Very interesting info on this calibre. Do you have any idea of the trajectory when using the lighter projectiles listed? I use 270 grn in mine but wonder if I can use a 235 grn head for longer shots out to say 400 yards max? Charly

    Possibilities .243Win caliber hunting.

Hi Kristian55, I use a .243 in the UK for anything fro fox to fallow bucks. I use Norma 100grn sp factory ammo from 20-300 yrds. It`s too light for big red stags but perfect for our smaller deer species. The .243 is the top calibre in the UK at the moment. Hope this helps, Charly

What Do You Expect from a Show Stand?

Thanks to you all, browningbbr, some great points on customer service. It sounds as though the general view is that a stand with a design based on quality over quantity and a clear representation of the services offered coupled with fast/friendly and efficient customer service should be a...

What Do You Expect from a Show Stand?

Hi Guys, I`ve just had a look back through Jeromes photo`s from the SCI show and found them truly stunning. My question is what do you expect to see on the average outfitter/agent stand at one of these top shows? I would particularly like to know what would draw you to actually talk to the reps...

    Hunting Argentina?

The rifle is a Remmy 700 stainless/synthetic, I don`t get a lot of chance to practice with it in the UK due to the fact I`m only allowed to shoot at government approved ranges and use solids only. The powers that be deem this rifle too powerful for hunting in my region. I will get a few shots in...

    Hunting Argentina?

Thanks Monish, I certainly let you know how it goes. As it`s an invite I don`t want to pester the guy with too many questions so will do some digging around on the net. Not sure if the .375 is overkill for a sheep but if I run into a big buff on the hunt I want to be prepared!

    Hunting Argentina?

Hi Guys, Sorry I`ve not been around for a while! Has anyone ever hunted Argentina?? I`ve been invited to hunt a Mouflon hybrid ram and some wingshooting for a few days in August. I will be taking my .375 and using whatever bullets I can find, not sure of availability out there? If...

    BRNO 602

Sorry to say that I never did manage to source a trigger kit for the 602. A friend offered me a rem 700 stainless synthetic which had been bedded and fitted with a timney trigger so I bought that as well. I still have the BRNO and will keep looking for the trigger. I have found the rem 700 to...

What is wrong with you people?

Hi Guys I do understand where you are coming from and I totally agree that fair chase wild hunting is what it`s all about and if I were the client I wouldn`t pay for anything less. I have tried to be clear from the start that this is a farm hunt within Zambia. Charly

    Sable package, Zambia

Hi Ryan, Yep that size is correct, I don`t know about the body size persective between countries but bear in mind this is a farm hunt not within a wild concession so the trophy size and time scale for hunting will be very different. I know it`s not everyones cup of tea but this hunt is...

congratulations, sounds like a fantastic opportunity! It`s tough moving the family what ages are they? Most of the mission familys that I know employ a live in home school teacher -quite often a European student. Good luck with your plans. Charly

    Big bore Merkel

We do have plenty around but the prices are sky high! I often use a site called guntrader.co.uk to keep track of whats on offer. I guess the same applies here as with you that lots of potentially valuable guns are given a back street polish and sold to the next unsuspecting buyer.
  40. Shavesgreen

    Big bore Merkel

I will definately ask your advise before buying. I, and many other brits, shy away from the continental calibres. They are slowly finding favour in the uk, particularly the 6.5x55, but only with the recreational stalkers looking for something a little different. Charly
  41. Shavesgreen

    BRNO 602

I do already have a CZ 550 in .243, which is very poular in the UK, and have found it accurate but a little agricultural! I have agreed to take this rifle at £600, with the scope and mounts, so roughly 900 usd? I`m happy with that but will be adding a Laminate stock, cutting down the barrel...
  42. Shavesgreen

    BRNO 602

Thanks for your advise, I`m told it will take 6 in the mag and has the sought after pop up sight as well as these rifle specific mounts. I`m not looking for a pretty gun just accurate and reliable at all times. I think the barrel is still 25" so that may require reducing. I`ll let you know...

    Big bore Merkel

Thanks for the info, it seems my local gunsmith was giving me some BS! I had wanted to keep the Merkel as it has some sentimental value but only if I could convert it. I think I`ll just sell it and put the money towards an English double. Charly

    BRNO 602

Hi Guys, I have been offered a BRNO 602 in .375 H&H with an old Ziess 4x scope fitted on QD mounts in good but used condition. I have not discussed a price as yet, what do you think would be fair? Can anyone tell me what the factory barrel length would be? I would appreciate any advise on...
