Four trips from Calgary to Saltlake or Minneapolis then Atlanta to Johannesburg all went fine going luggage ( rifle ) late by one day on two trips thanks to homeland security overwhelmed in Atlanta but received the OK for both trips at home airport not Calgary ( they forwarded them no cost )...

Weight on my 500 Jeffery 9.5 lbs a little light for that caliber but very manageable
Will add some weight as long as balance can be maintained, quick pointing more important than loosing handling qualities
I t was brisk with factory Sako ammo but not horrible recoil was a bit less than my 458 Lott.

Just picked up Sako Brown Bear in 500 Jeffery today three down plus one up the spout. Nice rifle I'm thinking a little light at 9 and a half pounds without any rounds in rifle. Laminated brown stock cut off stock recoil pad and added full 1 inch pad to give 14.25 inch length of pull.

built mine on a Winchester 70 controlled round feed that was a 416 rem mag .
Outside of mag box two little bumps need to be ground off then it's three down and one in chamber.
I have 1x4 number 4 crosshairs green dot on my Winchester 70 in 404 Jeffery
Has withstood 300 rounds fired now and one trip for Cape buffalo and eland
Looking for a couple more for next rifles in 458 Lott and 500 Jeffery
Trijicon 1x4 with german #4 green dot works like a charm on my 404 jeffery approaching 300, 2300 FPS round through rifle with no problems holding zero.
Mounted on Win 70 with Talley bases and QD rings
From 24" Bbl on winchester 70 action
450 Woodleigh soft CCI 200 primer with 83.0 gr of H4350 mv =2325
400 gr Barnes TSX and 400 solids loaded with Federal 215 primer And 81.0gr of Vith 550 mv =2300
100 yd zero drops 8" at 200 yds
took eland at 200 and Buffalo at twenty yards with barnes tsx

it's also a shooter just got back from range 4 rounds in a 4 leafe clover moved up 1 " and 3 shots under an inch this with 450 Woodleigh and h4305 mv 2160 8 (fps deviation)
Project compleat 2000.00 plus rifle cost (416 rem safari 1200.00) with sights and barrel band fo sling with talley mounts and quick detach 30mm rings powder coated iron gray action and Bbl 24 Pacnor total weight with trijicon 1x4 German #4 Is 10 lbs
So same cost as new CZ 550 here, but really...
