For Sale Browning BSS Side By Side 20 Gauge Shotgun

This is one of the mid-late 70s BSS guns with the selector switch to choose the firing order. It is 20 ga and has 28" barrels and is in all original condition. It is choked fairly tight - I think it is Mod (or Imp Mod) in the right barrel, and Full in the left. The bores are mirror bright with...

For Sale Husqvarna Super Grade FN Action 270 Rifle

Thank you gentlemen for your kind comments. I enjoyed learning about refinishing and experimenting with the amount of stain that would be needed to deal with the strange orange color that the stock had come to show. Prior to beginning the finish process with Permalin, I sealed the stock fully...

For Sale Husqvarna Super Grade FN Action 270 Rifle

This is an early ‘50s Husqvarna “Super Grade” in 270. It has been refinished by a careful amateur (me) using the components recommended by experienced gunmakers on this board, including Permalin. The finish is very smooth and is a semi gloss. The photos represent the color fairly well. The...

For Sale Fixer Searcy Double In 500/416 NE

That's how I see it as well. I will use my Ruger No. 1. Only question is if it will be the 375, the 450/400, or the 458. But it's good to have choices. FWIW, I think Mr. Searcy's response was seriously off the mark and sub par. If buying an expensive gun from a one person operation, one has to...

I usually don't care for synthetic stocks, but that one looks very good. No doubt it will great, functionally.

For Sale Vintage Holland & Holland .375 H&H Magnum Best Sporting Magazine Rifle

My goodness, what a nice classic rifle that is. I am certainly no expert on pricing for pieces such as this, but it seems like a very good price for an H&H in this condition in that caliber.

For Sale Winchester 70 XTR Featherweight 7MM Mauser

I had a model 70 in 270 from this era of manufacture. These are good guns. The later New Haven rifles had some problems, as most people are aware. And they have the original model 70 trigger design, unlike the current FN manufactured rifles. Great caliber.

    Ruger No 1 375 H&H For Sale

True. The 375 H&H should be a staple in the No. 1 line up. I do like the 375 Ruger in a bolt action, and have one, but don’t see the point in the No. 1. I was tempted by this stainless/ laminated example. If I indulged every such temptation the house would be overflowing with them and the...

Ruger #1 in big bore calibers

This thread apparently began in 2014, so it’s clear the issue won’t be resolved here. still entertaining to hash it out though. That said, I don’t really understand the recoil problem people describe with these. I have No. 1 rifles in 458, 450/400 and 375. I also own several in smaller calibers...

I love the Ruger No. 1 rifle’s and have seven or eight of them. They are addictive! If someone has a nice example of one of the varmint models in 223 we could talk about a trade.

For Sale Ruger M77 Hawkeye African 338

Hi Para45, Well, for one thing I already have a 375 Ruger and a Ruger No. 1 in 375 H&H! (Gun nut, of course, like all of us). Also, the Hawkeye actions are standard length and won't accommodate the H&H round without major surgery.

For Sale Ruger M77 Hawkeye African 338

I bought this new about three and a half years ago for Namibia trip. It must have been one of those rifles made on a later Friday afternoon. Chamber was too short, forend pulled strongly to the right, stock finish was uneven, light areas, some blisters on the forend tip. Didn't shoot very well...

It is the same, except it does have the original model 70 trigger as opposed to the current enclosed “MOA trigger.” That is an advantage to your rifle, in my opinion.

The XTR 80s guns are nice rifles. Your 300 H&H is probably even more scarce than the 7x57. My two fav calibers.

Stainless Ruger #1 In 458 Lott For Sale

    For Sale 375 H&H Browning X Bolt

CoElkHunter: The only Model 77 375s that Ruger has made are the RSM rifles. They are controlled feed. There's one for sale in this forum now. They don't have the tang safety though (it's a wing-type safety on the right side of the bolt shroud). The RSMs are great rifles, although on the heavy side.

    For Sale 375 H&H Browning X Bolt

CoElkHunter: I think you're right about that. Finn Aagaard (sp?) used a push feed Win M70 458 for some years. About the Ruger, the tang safety models actually didn't have controlled feed. The extractor looked like a Mauser type, but did not engage the rim until the bolt closed. They worked fine...

    For Sale 375 H&H Browning X Bolt

A lot of thought was put into the X-bolt magazine. It takes some design influence from the Mannlicher Schonauer design. It feeds the round from the center line rather than staggered left to right. I haven’t had the opportunity to operate one in 375 H&H, but with the long tapered case it should...
