In your experience, which failure is most common for the beveled extractor: breaking, or jumping the rim on extraction? They seem to be nearly opposite failures. I.e. if the extractor breaks, then it did not jump the rim, and vice versa.
Also, does this type of failure happen regularly on loads...
Haha I'm really only joking, and it probably doesn't happen much. But if my hunting buddy had one of those things, I think a very bad part of me would secretly hope his ammo would get lost.
Apologies if this is incorrect, as I am no expert, but I always had the impression that the beveling which allows the extractor to snap over the rim of the cartridge in the chamber was done to the face of the extractor. If this is so I don't see that such beveling would greatly increase the risk...
Very well done, and thank you for sharing! I bowhunt whitetails, but DG with a bow must be a whole different level of intensity! If it's permissible to ask: did you book through Roger Whitall Safaris or directly with Butch?
As sportsmen, I think we owe it to the PH's and to the game animals to put in the best first shot that we can. For many, that probably means a scope. This calls for humility and honesty on the hunter's part. It can be difficult to put aside nostalgia and pride. I mean no judgement toward any...

Seller estimates date of manufacture in the 40s based on sn, which cannot be since 458wm was introduced in '56. Conversion or misdated by seller? Nice looking rifle though imo.
Congratulations and well done to you both. I hope and pray that I am able to share similar experiences with my daughter (6yo) someday. Very inspiring; thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you all for a very warm welcome!
Glad to see our great state well represented by so many fine sportsmen!
Definitely a great place to hunt and fish. I dabble in fishing for trout and bass, and hunting dove and turkey, in addition to being pretty serious about whitetails. Have only...
Haha they have since raised the price to $1275.99. At $969.99, it was an incredible deal. Probably below dealer cost. Still pretty good, especially in the current market, I think.
I should probably begin my introduction by thanking the members of this forum for all of the information and "entertainment" I have enjoyed as a long time lurker. Thus far it has helped me to take the baby step of ordering a Win. M70 Safari Express in .375.
A little info: I'm from NC, born...
Would be interested to know @rookhawk's thoughts on this piece vis a vis value. Asking for a friend haha @Daniel Cary?
Apologies if this piece has already been discussed but I don't think I've seen it mentioned.

Thank y'all for the info. I strongly suspected that it only held 3, but the description said total capacity 5 rounds. If I had known for sure it was 4+1 I think I would have bought it.
Nice. Very happy and excited for you re: your lion hunt. Prices seem to have gone up a lot. Maybe due to CZ not making the 550 anymore, and the Safari Express not available anywhere. Does your Whitworth really hold four down?

I'm not sure it's a great deal, but this Whitworth sure looks nice. The seller seems to claim that it has a four round magazine as well. If only the front stud were a barrel band, and it had a second crossbolt. I have an M70 Safari Express on order, and...
