Thank you Ragman! They are Irish pikes. Ireland has a special place in my heart because as a schoolchild, I used to spend summer in Ireland, in College - was very funny, not hard time at all. Still considering Ireland a second home, I often go there for fishing, or just to visit friends. It's a...

    Rigby Floor Plate Issue

I would conctact Rigby directly. It's a potentially very dangerous issue, it's not an elk gun! I mean, I would be very disappointed in an elk gun too, but, c'mon. ..you go after buffalo/ele & Co with your rifle!

    Rigby Floor Plate Issue

I have a Rigby, a vintage mid '90s, and I have no screws on the floorplate... No idea why they "changed" putting a more complicated system...who knows (The picture is not very clear, sorry)

    HUNTING Bison

I shot my bison with bowhunting gear, and I spent a lit of time in reserching for proper shot placement. It is absolutely true that is easy to shot it too high, and this can be absolutely a nightmare. Also I add, bison can have a lot of loose skin and fur in the bottom end, so is also easy to...

    Barrel Life

That's a good point, how much a barrel is considered "shotout" can be a very subjective... Also add that the more you shot it, the more proficient you become, so...maybe at some point there is a sort of compensation - at least in hot hunting rifles/calibers, I mean...

    Barrel Life

To me, barrel life depends more on "how" you shot than "how many". If you take time between groups, let cool the barrel well, and clean deeply the barrel every 30/40 shots, a barrel can really last for very long I guess. Also a good break in seems to prolong barrel life. A factor that "burns"...

416 bullets heavier than 400 grains?

You're right and I'm exactly on the same line. My "big bore" is indeed a medium bore by the old british stardard, being a 416 Remington, one of the very few chambered in a Rigby, built in 1997 in England, accordingly with the Rigby ledgers and proof marks on it. It was in fact one of the very...

    8x68S owner's opinions

You could'nt say better, I agree 101% on Norma 204 and Evo, a recipe that works great in my old Sauer, too. I find the 200 gr Evo tremendously accurate, as it was the previous H Mantel I have to say, with the benefits of a bonded bullet. Also the factory 200gr RWS shots great for me.

    375 H& H barrel length

My advice is to stay with 24". To me, a shorter barrel makes the rifle jumping more, and produces more muzzle blast, resulting in a more difficult rapid second shot - and you definitely want an easy second shot on a dangerous game rifle.

First Safari! Most versatile Plains Game cartridge...

Pleasure to meet another 8mm estimator! Unfortunately .323 has never been popular in US, but it deserves a great respect indeed... Today we have more bullet choice so it's even more versatile. I would like Nosler make a 220 Partition! You know, there is a small Italian maker, Concari, that...
