I have hunted with CT Safaris twice now and have seen and killed some real big critters both times. I have also been in contact with quite a few folks that have harvested a number of big critters with him. Most notably the Kudu that he hunts in the Waterburg Mountains where his home ranch is...
While I can't speak for Spear as I have never hunted with them, I can and will speak for Chris Troskie Safaris.
I was under the impression that I too would hunt with several different outfits for a different experience. I no longer feel that way as I sincerely believe that my wife and I came in...
Derek if you need Retumbo I may have a line on some. I'm not using it anymore and I think Glenn that you met at the show lets me know when he gets powder in before anyone else gets their mitts on it. Keep me in the loop and I'll let him know what you are after.
Because 85-90% of the shooting/reloading population of North America resides in the US. Supply and demand. The US shooting community gets their fill first. We get what's left. Couple that with the fact that folks down south start hoarding whenever a Democrat says anything about gun control...
I have a couple more pictures. I am not in the same league as a lot of you guys. I just like these pictures I am sharing and hope others will get some enjoyment from them also. If I get lucky then good for me. Who wouldn't want a free hunt?
Great idea for a thread sir! Thanks for keeping...
A Saskatchewan sunset on our family fishing trip.
Not my dog but I'd take her in a minute.
A fish eater in Pilanesburg.
The lodge at Nxala Ranch in Kwa Zulu Natal
Walking is relatively easy. The hard part is sitting in your chair after even a short walk. ANY sweat, and I mean ANY, and you can be screwed! I have hunted at -40 and I can tell you that it isn't fun. It is however something I would recommend doing. It's nice to see how others experience...
I would love to hear more info as well. One question that I am assuming the answer too. Do farts have lumps? I'll bet you damn near filled your pants!
Bravo for sticking it out and not trying to run for the hills.
Congrats Adam. I heard from Chris last week about your success. Glad the bullets worked out for you. ;)
I had a feeling that this was going to be a good story.
That Sammy is a great little guy isn't he? I told Chris to hang on to him. I hope he sticks around.
Daryl
As you get to the landowners house is there a second house about 75 yards away and a shop and skinning area in between them that is set up really nice? If it's the same place that I am thinking of, there is a huge hill right in almost the center of his property with an antenna on it.
Again...
Thanks Marius. I may have something with Universal Trophies already. Rupert was very quick to respond. If not, I will surely take you up on your offer.
Thanks again,
Daryl
As some of you have read here, I made a trip to KZN a month ago.
Everything was excellent and I am super happy with my trip and the Outfitter I went with. (Chris Troskie of CT-Safaris)
My only complaint is that I shot a very big Grey Duiker (5 1/2" +) and I made the stupid mistake of having...
Just returned from Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa. I went with 3 friends and we had a helluva time.
Where we hunted in Natal is about 5 hours South East of Johannesburg. The drive was fairly interesting in itself as a lot of the hiway is not maintained real well. There was a fair bit of dodging...
I do trust Chris for sure. He got me into exactly what I was looking for on my last trip. I just like to try and get a good idea in my head of what I am looking for before ripping the trigger. Honestly it may come down to what the cape/beard looks like. They are a very gorgeous critter and...
Thanks Brick. I never thought of how much the sweep would add to the length.
That's why I love this forum. I don't post here much but I do try and lurk a fair bit.
Well I am down to 16 more sleeps before my 2nd safari with Chris Troskie.
I am almost giddy with excitement. I have gone over and over my list of items to pack and I think I have it all figured out.
I am having some issues with the German gun permit but I am hoping that will be sorted...
I know you guys have issues too. What you see, multiply it by 3 or 4 times for what we have here for shortages. I was talking to one of the biggest shops in Alberta 2 days ago. They have 10 or 11 stores across Canada. They had next to nothing on the shelves for bullets. Literally 85% of the...
As far as I know they are ITAR controlled so no go. I do have my 60 loaded up and sitting ready for the hunt. I just don't have anymore to practice with. And the winter here has been brutal so trigger time this winter was reduced to I think only 3 range sessions. I just picked up a 22 Hornet...
I have 37 days until my trip. I was practicing on home made sticks the other day at the silhouette range. For the life of me I couldn't hit the 200 meter chickens with my No1 in 375 H&H. I did however knock down 2 pigs out of 3 at 300 meters. My sticks were bamboo and very flimsy. I have...
Brickburn I tried for days to get the online form to load but it just wouldn't open for me. I opted to do the paper version and it was a breeze. I will admit that I had a little help from a member on the Alberta Outdoorsman forum but none the less I had the export permit e-mailed to me 3 days...
I just wired the money over for my German permit today. My bank, ATB, wanted an address as well as the details that are provided above in Lori's post. As soon as it is debited from my account I can tell you if that worked or not. I should know on Monday the teller told me.
I will post as...
I actually shot my Kudu bull on the range hill. Just around the corner to the west. We could see the highway while doing the trophy photos.
I agree with the "Elky" looking hills and valleys. The rocky ledges and brushy valley bottoms with all of it leading to the river sure looks like Elk to...
So to add a little more to the story now that I have some time...
We left home here at 6am from Calgary Alberta. After 28 hours of travel we were met at Tambo by Chris from Ct-Safaris. We made a 4ish hour drive to camp and absolutely passed out!
The next day was for getting used to the time...
Chris kept getting my name mixed up with yours. It was pretty funny.
I heard you guys had a great huny as well. I am thinking of KZN for my next trip. It sounds like a gorgeous area with some great trophy potential.
