What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

IMO and IME, you should never have a Rolex "serviced" by Rolex until there is something actually wrong with it.

I have talked with two other Rolex owners, who have confirmed this with me.

One was a lawyer who had to send send a "legal letter" to Rolex in New York, NY because it took so long that he was starting to be concerned that we might not ever get his watch back...

To add to this, there are 3rd party horologists that do a better job, especially on older watches. Supposedly, in a fraction of the time too.

For example, Phillip Ridley is renowned for restorations on vintage stuff.

My 2000 serial 14060M is probably going to get sent to him in the next year or so for a complete resto.

Not in the same league as many of your watches, but I love my Seiko prospex. I wear it every day and has spent hundreds of hours in salt water…

Have never worn a watch on Safari - time is something I do not wish to be aware of !

The world timers are awesome! I saw a video where ed Sheeran was able to put his hometown on his own custom Patek world timer. You could contact Omega and see if they would do it for you too ;)

They suggested I move to New York, Los Angeles, Denver or Chicago.

Great choice, Seiko automatics are awesome watches. I have had two over the years, first purchased in 1989, worn in Desert Shield/Storm and second purchased in 2005, used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tough durable and dependable, I still wear the second on a regular basis, the first is currently with my oldest an Army officer.

Every watch guy should own a Seiko diver of some type. Fantastic watches. They're icons that transcend cost/value, status, luxury etc. Always a great choice.

I have a Rolex Gold and Stainless Submariner but most of the time when I wear a watch it is this Seiko Chronograph 100M that is on my wrist.

When I was in college I desperately wanted a Seiko dive watch but couldn’t afford it. So when my 24yo nephew made Sergeant in the Army I bought him a really nice white faced Seiko GMT, looks just like a Rolex Explorer II
Damn fine watch that will last him a lifetime!

The older I get the more I appreciate unadorned quality, just plain, simple and fresh. Whether it be new or vintage, it is about no frills.
If I were to get another Rolex it would be this one.

I felt the same way a few years ago so my wife bought me this. I upgraded the strap to leather and the clasp to a deployment. It's now my "dress" watch.

Not overly expensive, but serve me well. Seiko Flightmaster. I've had this one for probably 25 years and it gets worn daily. I also have a couple of divers. Seiko has always treated me well. Needs a battery right now, thats why the date is off!

I also wear this one. My dad was a US Marine and served in Korea. I am not sure where he purchased this Bulova but it would have been around the nineteen fifty four or fifty five timeframe.
I remember him wearing it every day when I was growing up. I got it when he passed away.
I don’t think ot is worth much but it is emotionally priceless to me.

It's not a very well-known brand, but it turned out to be extremely successful, survived a couple of accidents with shattered glass, etc., and the watchmakers praised the mechanism. At one time, watches cost significantly less than 1,000, and now they are on the secondary market and less than 100.

On a actual what to wear note:

I am going to be hunting, starting the 26th

What watch should I actually wear. I will do a watch photo, in action per, day with what I choose and post it. I'll be in SA at 4 different concessions and will have all 4 springbuck, bull giraffe, bush pig, warthog, Cape buffalo on the menu. Rest will be game time decision.

1. Omega Railmaster
2. Tudor Pelagos LHD
3. Tudor Pelagos GXD
4. Omega World Timer
5. Hamilton Khaki Field
6. Hanhart Preventor HD12
7. Grand Seiko SBGC231 GMT
8. Omega Aqua Terra Black Lacquer
9. Casio G Shock Rangemaster
10. Rolex 16800 Submariner

Omega Aqua Terra Black Lacquer or Omega Railmaster would be my choices. The Omega World Timer seems a little busy for hunting to me.

I know...shocker right?
