Tungsten buckshot for leopard follow up?

There are some custom loaders who may be able to load 12 gauge with larger sized Tungsten pellets. I’ll ask Brice Hensley of Foxtrot Ammo what he can come up with.

So not knowing anything about this tungsten shot, what would be the best size in comparison to ordinary lead sizes for using on leopard for penetration,?....whichever size is the best i would love to try on a big warthog to test it....just would need someone to bring it over :X3: :E Big Grin:

@Flbt - that’s a concerning comment on the COST of TSS Buckshot —-even the Government CAN’T afford it !!

Using TSS will result in needing a much smaller pellet size to achieve much better results. For goose, when lead was used it was typically #2 shot. With TSS we use #7 and it hits like lightning with birds falling stone dead.

I’ll be going to a farm this weekend to hunt coyote and that calls for #4 TSS shot, where in the past it was always 00-BUCK.

I would think for something like leopard, it would be #2 shot or just a little bigger for TSS.

BTW - Price is a big deal with TSS. The coyote loads cost me $65/box of 5. I may not be pattern testing this for the cost.

Apex loads BB and #2. I would thing these would put a serious hurt on a leopard.

Other than Apex or hand loads, not really. Even finding the pellets in that size gets tough.

I would think it’s because there’s no demand for it. It just reduces the number of pellets for the same weight.

Expensive experiment. Average would be around $12/shell for #2.

Do they come in boxes of 5 or 10?...hard to look on that website as sat wifi pissing around as rain around

I’ll use a FULL, IMP MOD or MOD choke for the #4’s I’m planning on using on coyote. Most likely IMP MOD.

I don’t plan on using #2 TSS, but I’d probably cap out at MOD because of the size of the pellets and not wanting them to bounce off each other too bad as they hit the choke.

Box of 5 for ~$65 USD…currently.

Two years ago they were $30. :rolleyes:

Yea I know that surprise me to
But I was talking more about local small PD
That I still know the armor in.
So it might just be for that
I don’t see the big ones or the feds worring about price

One of the reasons quit a few years ago after a lawsuit
They had to start practicing and training with duty ammo
So that really expensive buckshot would have. To be used for every thing not just duty
And back in the 00s that would have been 30 shots per person times about 15-40 for the average shotgun class
