Unless the bedding underneath the action has massive gaps I wouldn't worry about it. A few bubbles here and there won't affect overall rigidity. Might not look first class but should shoot fine. Who sees what's underneath the action anyway?
Hegseth needs to read his history books. Nothing virtuous about the Crusades. Those guys were land-grabbing thugs waving crosses. The Muslims were fine with making Jerusalem free to all pilgrims ... as long as they behaved themselves. But that wasn't good enough for the Popes (who were also...
This is my 98 Mauser 404 wearing a matte finish "tacticool" 30mm 1-4x Bushnell and very low old Weaver one-piece mount. I actually had to trim/polish a tiny bit from the bolt handle. It was very slightly brushing the front edge of ocular bell. With this stock's semi monte carlo cheek rest...
A couple of remade WWII man killers.
Czech vz.24 98 Mauser in 404 Jeffery on top and 30-06 Springfield 03A3 below. I built the 404 and I rebuilt the Springfield my dad sporterized in 1962. 404 wears 1-4x30 Bushnell and Springfield has 3-9x Nikon. Both have Warne QD rings and Winchester...
I don't believe a tight cheek weld is particularly desirable or important for any style hunting. As I've said many times, the shooter should be able to close his eyes, quickly mount the rifle, open eyes, and the iron sights or crosshairs should instantly be where they should be. This requires...
Your eyes are a LOT better than mine to be attempting 300 yard shots at game with any kind of iron sight setup. I'd be lucky to hit an elephant in the boiler room at that range ... not like the bullet would have enough gas left at that range to kill it if I did.
Correction: The gap I'm seeing is a reflection on the barrel. Oops Appears he did bed it just to end of chamber. He was trying to fill the gap from the stock's previous heavier barrel. Guess he could have colored the bedding material with pigment to make it less obtrusive. I'm sure it will...
I had to shoot this gemsbuck or be run over/impaled. I'm sure she saw me as I came off the sticks, probably a little beyond 20 yards when she came out of the acacia thicket running full tilt. I put the first 30-06 bullet in her chest and then another in her heart as she ran by at twelve paces...
Typically the barrel is free floating down to where the end of the chamber is located. He appears to have free floated this barrel all the way to receiver. Was it a new factory stock or a used one? A used stock that was made for heavier caliber/profile barrel might account for some of the...
I used both methods to check barrel length of my Springfield 03A3. There is 3/4" difference which is almost significant. 24" barrel length makes more sense than 23.25" barrel length. Always learning something new on this site.
I didn't think the fancy one would. So is your 30-06 pre or post-1964? I thought the older bottom metal listed might have worked for you but that guy was awful proud of it, especially in that condition. What exactly do you require? Fixed or hinged floor plate?
Ammo up here must be shipped as hazardous material which is expensive. I would presume the same in US?
Paul, I hope you were not offended when I wrote tongue in cheek that your uncle could have been a pro football player. I would be surprised if he didn't hear that a lot. Look at the...
Interesting. I was always taught to measure from muzzle to front edge of receiver. What's your source for this? This method does seem to make sense. I'll check to see what the difference is between two methods. I'm guessing about half an inch.
