Yeah, everything they made was "World famous Belgian ..." :D Their cast iron multi-station shotshell reloader was built to withstand the nuclear holocaust. I saved up my lawn mowing money for the entire summer to buy one and then Jostens showed up at our high school selling class rings. Like...
So ... you didn't connect for buffalo. What does that cost? Just the daily PH rate plus trophy fees for the animals taken? You had memorable trip and made it memorable for all of us too. Thanks! I think any of us would be happy to hunt with you ... but not so sure you'd be happy to hunt...
Long sticker acacia is nasty but blackthorn is worse. Hook shaped thorns that grab and tear at you. Buffalo seem to love the stuff.
Great write up! That pup reminds me of my two hunting dogs. Fourteen year-old French Britt "Puppy" can still dance on her hind legs for a treat. Ten year-old...
Just watching the news, boys. There's been a saga running several years on installing flash flood warning system and why it didn't happen. Seems it was all about who was going to pay what portion of the bill. No one was arguing a warning system for flash floods wasn't needed.
Easy enough to...
It might be possible but barely I think. They build 416 Rigby on 1917 and it is 0.050" longer overall cartridge than 600 Overkill. So mag box can be lengthened and ejection port should have enough clearance. But the bolt face is cutting it close. Outside diameter of my P14 bolt head is 0.69"...
Yes, that's reasonable. If the farmer sends me out to shoot something to feed staff and we run into a real trophy ram and I shoot it, he shouldn't be out a trophy animal fee for the next hunter to buy.
My third safari we went into the high country for a black wildebeest to replace the gold...
Back when I was a youngster 7x57 ammo was relatively abundant on the shelves. Seems not so much these days. 303 British ammo has also dried up considerably. A shame because they were great and proven killers of both man and beast. I guess the manufacturers have to choose between novel...
I guess the difference is if the outfitter (or his best friend) owns the property. When I culled on his/their property, I paid nothing. Meat was used by staff. "Go shoot a couple of scrub impala rams for staff meat." Culling on another landowner's property I paid the "meat price" because he...
Perhaps. But I don't see much difference between culling for staff meat or for baiting cats. I would think the similarity would be obvious. So are the same outfitters charging clients trophy fees for animals shot to feed staff? I have done that on a couple of occasions and never charged a...
With the history of flash floods in that country I just don't understand why no sirens. A lot of finger pointing going on already. Appears cheapskate county administrators was basically the problem. And they wonder why liability insurance for municipalities is sky high. People in charge make...
I don't hunt over bait but I do cull animals. For culls I'm charged whatever the property owner would get at the butcher. Outfitter takes the carcass and processes it. What he doesn't use he sells. I have been allowed to take horns.
