This is 100% correct. This rifle would not be particularly to my taste, but the OP said he liked the velocity of the Weatherby.
It’s a nice barreled action (presumably) and stocks are relatively cheap and plentiful. If a person liked this chambering, this wouldn’t be a bad purchase at mid 1000...

If buffalo or bigger animals are on your list you might also consider a two gun combo like 30-06 and 458. The 06 with 220gr RN corelokt wallops plains game 600lbs...
Well, I finally got my hands on it today (Huge delays due to the winter weather in the south and SHOT show for me). It is definitely the genuine article. It’s marked with the “BV” and M400 right behind the lug. Apparently this early one still had the thumb cut after all.
