You can see a line on the barrel just above where the receiver meets the forearm wood in both the last 2 photos. First thing I noticed. Thought it might’ve been a shadow until the second photo also had it in the same spot.
Below are a couple generic Google Photos of sleeving that might better...
You need to contact someone else because that info is wrong.
I just did a few 4457’s for this year’s trips and the Custom Officers asked if I needed any suppressors done when I walked up, and were surprised I wasn’t taking any. That’s until they checked my firearms, then the questions about the...
I typically travel with 2 Rifles and 1 Bow, or 3 Rifles when going on safari. My go to case is an older SKB 4 Gun case. The bottom holds my bow, 18 arrows, Binos/Rangefinder, Broadhead case, release and quiver. I put a the middle layer of foam, then 2 rifles in soft cases. When traveling with 3...
You bring up an interesting point. A treed leopard is different than a Leopard bayed up in rocks or otherwise on the ground. Where I’d prefer to hound hunt a leopard, many of the Toms don’t tree so Id rule out a bow hunt for one there.
What percentage of the Leopards you chase tree vs bay-up on...
There are certain stores that are better to deal with in terms of collections or large lots. Most dealers, especially pawnshops will lowball the crap out of you because it’s about cashflow and turns.
You’re better off going to a specialty shop that deals in that stuff or a small guy who only...
You and I have a similar mindset; just embrace the suck for what it is, it’s all part of the grander adventure and experience. However, I’m weird and often sleep better on a plane than I do in my own bed.
Like you and a few others I’m primarily a OneWorld traveler, so unless there’s a huge...
Yah, hopefully we cross paths. I’m not getting in until Friday afternoon and I’m out on Saturday but Strang will be one of my first stops. I’ll tell him to shoot you a text when I pop by and we can try to meet-up.
Wild Dogs are always a treat to see. I’ve seen them in Kruger and Chobe NP, as well as in Zimbabwe. In Kruger we saw a Cow Elephant chase a pack of wild dogs away from a waterhole so her new calf could drink. My girlfriend got a really cool video of it.
You’re in for an awesome hunt and experience. Strang is an amazing PH and genuinely great person to be around. I’ll spend a good bit visiting with him at DSC next week.
I’ve done this twice, most recently in December 2023 without any issues. Took the girlfriend to the markets and the touristy stuff, then met up with a college buddy who now works in his firms London office, and another friend from London for drinks at visited a bunch of pubs with them.
One thing I haven’t done that I would still like to do my next visit is Letaba Elephant Hall. I’d think the drive there/back and visit would likely take a day depending on the part of Kruger NP you’re in.
Are you visiting Kruger National Park or will you be touring one of the private reserves that adjoin the park and make-up the Greater Kruger; like the Klaserie, Timbavati and Sabi Sands?
My understanding is the Private Reserves have a max number of guests they allow per day keeping...
