I just ordered a set of dies directly from RCBS. They were actually cheaper buying them directly from the maker than from a retailer that actually had a set. Most of them were out of stock. I'm anxious to shoot it!
Grandpa Moose you have seven of them??!! Good collection! I'm working on...
It's not a big boomer, but I've wanted one of these forever. Finally came across one at a good price and grabbed it. I ran the serial number (10336) and the best I could come up with was 1924. They say there are proof markings on the underside of the barrel so at some point I'll take the...
I'd like to have a Submariner, but am a bit of a Breitling fan and also want a Navitimer (even though they look busy and I'm far sighted and probably couldn't read the extra little dials anyway :) ). I wear a Superocean as my everyday watch and am very happy with it. I like the dive watch...
I have a Winchester Model 1897 made in 1899 pump 12 gauge. I don't have a pump rifle. I do have a Springfield M1A National Match with a Leupold 3x9-50 on it. I've dropped two deer in two seconds with it. I love my M14! Best of luck to you 760 guys....I have an old 782 autoloader but never...
I really like the Model 70. I have four of them....two with curly maple stocks that are just gorgeous. Just took a nice buck with my favorite of them all....a .264 Winchester with the curly maple. They don't run far from the .264. I hand load also. Makes these "oddball" calibers fun :)
I posted on here earlier several years ago...I built my own .375 Weatherby from scratch...and want to take it to Africa. Enfield Model 1917 action with an A-Square stock. I have a .460 Weatherby being built, also on a M1917 action, with another A-Square stock (they are ugly as Sin but really...
I like your posts. You look to speak of experience. I built my own rifle, on an Enfield Model 1917 action, with a 30" Douglas barrel, in .375 Weatherby. It's a neat cartridge that can also shoot .375 H&H's out of the chamber. I handload, and my loads are 2889 ft/s with a 300 grain bullet...
No Typo. She's got a 30" tube! I was going to go 29", but the guy at Douglas laughed and said "We can go to thirty, so you might as well!" So that's what she is. With the big ugly A-Square stock, the longer barrel actually looks about right :)
I spent nearly $7K, over 10 years, building my rifle. I couldn't even fathom "renting" one. My super custom .375 Weatherby clocks in at 2889 ft/s on the chrono with a 300gr. That's knocking on the .378's door. Built her on a Model 1917 Enfield action with a 30" Douglas barrel and an A-Square...
I have one of those, IvW, and used it to zap a Russian Razorback Boar hog of 230lbs....which seems like nothing for a .375 but is tough for a .270..... My dad gave it to me and I'll never sell it, but I'm taking my full custom M1917 .375 Wby to Africa.
I load that bullet in my Marlin 1895 Cowboy .45-70 with 26" octagon barrel. I get about 1850 ft/s with it. Completely devastated a white tail deer with it. But even that load is so hot it will sometimes kick the lever open, so it's probably too hot.
How does a .45-70 loaded up hot like this...
