Made the decision- building a dangerous game lever gun

I believe that the. 475 Turnbull was inspired by the .46 WCF. Too bad it wasn't released to the public. Would have made a good option back in the day for those who liked lever guns and wanted more than what the .405 WCF had to offer.

    45 Super and 250gr

I use a Sig P220 ST for Super. The factory barrel offers plenty of head support, so I was lucky not to need switching it out. I tried the heaviest Wolff mainspring, but due to the larger diameter wire needed get the added resistance, it was starting to bottom out early on the spring under recoil...

    What did you reload today?

I emptied and reloaded the dishwasher. Table wear first load, posts and pans second!

Australias feral cats are evolving at a rapid rate

From my outback adventures, I noticed the fox, dingo and feral cat are now all close to the same size and color. They all must be close to filling the same niche.

    Caliber 30-30 use in Africa???

Lever guns are notorious for vertically stringing shots with different weight bullets or velocity. In saying that, you can say they are velocity sensitive, so all things being reasonably the same, a lower velocity load will print lower on the target, and as the velocity goes up, so does the...

One cartridge to hunt dangerous game for the rest of your life and it can't be a 375, what are you going with?

I would have to turn to my Winchester M1895 .405 WCF, loaded with quality 350 grainers such as a Swift at about 2250 fps. This carries about 4000 fpe, with a bullet having near .300 S.D. Should do the job on anything that I'll likely ever be going after.

    Some not so common Handguns

Stylish looks of course... That or a beer opener!

What do you think of the Winchester .405?

A tried and true Winchester model 1895 of course!

What do you think of the Winchester .405?

Short of elephant and large rhino, the .405 will do fine, so long as you modernize the loads with premium bullets and powder. If done right, you should be able to get 350 gr. Swift A-Frame up to about 2250 fps without too much trouble, and at a reasonable pressures. I've taken 4 large buffalo...

    Noe 9.3 bullet mold

I've tried using both the 9.3mm Gator and the .375 Hornady gas checks. They both fit the shank well, and I can't tell any difference accuracy wise.

Best .45 ACP round for black bear protection

I would buy a box of each of the following 45 ACP +P, shoot them for reliability and accuracy, and go with what my pistol liked best, with reliability being foremost: - Grizzly Cartridge; 230 gr FMJ & HP at 1000 fps - Underwood; 230 gr FMJ & HP at 1000 fps - Buffalo Bore; 255 gr Hard Cast at...

    .45 Super

I think that I'll get an H&K model HK45C Compact. It was developed for the US Navy Seals and is called the Mark 24. They developed it for extensive use of +P and +P+ ammo, and had Winchester developed special purpose 185 gr FMJ at 1250 fps and a 230 HP (Black Talon?) at 1080 fps. These...

    Noe 9.3 bullet mold

I have one of these moulds with the gascheck. I cast them with alloy 2, sized .368", lubed they come out close to 290 grains. My go to load is 14.5 grains if Rx Green Dot, giving me close to 1600 fps in my 9.3x66 Sako. I like to lay out clay targets at 200m and lobb these in there after I get...

    Chambering ID needed

Could "MR" just be their abreviation for "Mauser"?
