The only problem with the shorter bookings is the expensive airfares. However in most cases shorter booking are an extra, unplanned income for outfitters and you can generally find better prices if there's an opening.

Ammo is very easy to get in SA. Tell your PH what you need. You can even buy it yourself if you bring a gun and have a temporary import certificate.
