The All Around Rifle Caliber....

The most dangerous animal I might encounter while hunting might be a rabid skunk, so a 375 H&H might be a little too much. My all around is 8x57, my favorite rifle is an Orberndorf B Mauser made in 1912 a true stutzen with a 20 inch part octagon barrel topped with an Ajax scope 318 bore, its only problem is that some fool installed a recoil pad in the 40s or 50s. It’s one of 3 I have. All are double set trigger.

A Bergstutzen Drilling would be a perfect all round tool.
My caliber choice would be 9.3x74R/7×57R/12ga.
For serious DG game in Africa I would add my 500 Jeff. 2 rifles 4 calibers ready for anything

Trick question eh One caliber/rifle/cartridge for duiker through elephant.... for me close call between a CRF Win 70 375 HH and a CRF Win 70 416 Rem Mag.... If right now I had to go to the safe for one rifle in one caliber, exclusive of all others, it would be the CRF Win 70 with low power scope in 416 Rem Mag pictured below.

That would have to be the best comparison I have ever heard. A very apt description.
To date I have have never used a 375H&H but may have to remedy that when I visit @CBH Australia

For Africa, yes. For other continents, a 30-06 or 7/300 mag of your choice (even a hot 6.5 Mag! or .257 or .338 depending upon your latitude.) It's quite a challenge to bag those sheep and goats at 600 yds with a 375! The 375 is just so pleasant shooting (great for the longer, 300+ shots on African PG.) But those with a 416 can pretty much do the same (and even more effective on the bigger stuff., which you typ pull the trigger under 100.) More effective meaning, with a well-placed shot, it fell over instead of taking a few steps prior to doing so. lol Recall Bell, Selous, Jameison, et. al. with their 6.5-7s. In the right hands, they might just be the ideal weapons for everything!

What do you expect from a 25 and 35 tragic. Ihave liked and used 25 for years, it's just so versatile. The Whelen is just such a versatile and potent cartridge when loaded properly. Being able to be loaded with cast or pistol bullets for fun practice and small game up to 310gn heavies or long range 225s, both putting out 4,000+fpe what else do I need.

I finally found a CZ550 magnum in 375, which I have been looking for. While looking I found a Kimber Caprivi in 458 lott. New in the box from 2013. Beautiful rifle. Happy happy!

The 30 cals are great cartridges even the humble 30-30, my son even bought a 308 over the pissant 243. I have no problems with the 30s and have a soft spot for the old 303. It's just I don't have a use for a 30 cal at the moment.
