SL 65 Dl ,.358 Norma. Ammo loaded is 180 Handgun, 250 Nosler, 215 Copper, 225 Nosle AB, a good rifle, but i despise Oryx factory ammo ,it made me almost hate it after how it behaved .

Would like to try i in African or Asian areas,but then wirh 310 Woodleigh soft,solids at 750 or little bit more speed behind .

Was the velocity too great for the Oryx?
Oh yes, range 50 meters ,absolutely obliterated so much venison it was heartbreak.

Bullets broke up completely turne into tiny fragment that broadsided ,and some of pieces went through,but judt as small bits. This was factory new ammo, no fragments recovered.

So yes it was wrong on both sides, would be better in ,35 Whe.

But they had troubles with the .358 bullet way back also, Kvale used the one for .358Win,as moose was thinskinned and no need for othe types.

FN chambered a few .308 Norma Magnums as did Husqvarna. Likewise the scandinavian firms mostly built factory rifles for the .358, if I remember correctly it was introduced in 1959/1960 and rifles available were FN Brownings, Husqvarna and Schultz & Larson.

I wouldn’t be angry to own a Husqy or FN Supreme in either caliber

@PerH
What about the lovely 275gn Woodleigh PPSP. That would be a great longer range bullet that would carry a big hit a long ways.

@PerH
Thx,checking out a 68 this weekend.
They are even better ,long action and magazine on them so 225 AB can be used very good there.

Edit

Forgot to note that SL rifles of the 65,68 and later versions was discontinued due to production and then sale price. Later Otterup factory closed down and new managment at Rask Mølle ( In my book,not the same as the Otterup ones qnd they had much troubles soe years ago)

G Series M70 Receiver, Douglas air gauged 26" barrel, NECG rear/ flip down front sight, barrel band and flush cross bolts. Stock came from a blank i had in the closet and duplicated to a 1996 Super Grade stock I sent in for the pattern.

I tried out my 308 Norma for the first time this evening. Oh my gosh what a sweetheart. 2 shots to get the rifle sighted in where I want it . The little 3-9 Leupold worked good.

I cannot believe how little recoil there is with the Norma factory ammunition. I must have been shooting the big boomers for a long time , this little Norma is just so nice!! The weight of the Belgium Browning safari helps, but I still can't believe how nice it is to shoot.

Hopefully can take a nice whitetail with it this fall .

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
