I love the look of a Zebra skin rug - but does anyone make a rug out of an Oryx skin?

they are also striking looking ... just curious

would the hide be too thick?

I expect one piece of flat skin from an oryx in a couple of weeks. Will try to post a pic when I got it.

Got mine back from the tanner a few days ago, I like it, nice tail.

would be great if you guys could post pics. congrats!!

anyone have pictures or comments ???

Check out www.kwiktan.com , they have some pics of quite a few African game skins.

even just the backskins are beautiful.

Me too. When I mentioned that I was going to have to rug one of my trophies due to limited wall space, he immediately told me to rug the Gembsok or the Blue Wildebeest. He told me that most people rug the Zebra, but it was his opinion that the GB and the BWB make the prettiest rugs. Hope he is right, as I think the GB makes one of the prettiest mounts.

If I recall what our taxidermist said, the gemsbok/oryx hides won't hold up well enough to make a good rug. I think it has something to do with the hairs being hollow and would eventually break off when compared to a zebra, for example.

I love flatskins!

My next Zebra goes towards a flatskin for sure.

I'll have a Blue Wildebeest & a Gemsbok flatskin done and and possibly a Red Hartebeest as well.

I'm also considering this Gemsbok flatskin/with head-on like one of our friends here had done when I get my Super Cow.:D

Hey Odinsraven. Is that post from Jefferry 404 legitimate? I don't know him. Thanks!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
