Morning All!
South African, Stellenbosch local booitjie greeting you from a nice, cool Germany.

Maybe I can start off with the question of the day...
I will be coming home in March for a hunt, and would like to upgrade my Musgrave .270 with some well "needed" accessories...
I'll be adding a bi-pod & a silencer...however, I need some advice..
Are there specific silencers to "fit" specific rifles "perfectly", or is it really "whatever works for you".
I've been looking at the Sonic Mod45 7" from Wildman but I really don't know..and also seeing that it's a "need" I can't spend too much...eish...die missies...

Please give me some personal experience feedback (maybe sommer on the bi-pod as well..2-in-1 position would be good)

Much appreciated!
P

I can't help you with your question regarding a suppressor, but welcome to AH!

Welcome to AH Pieter!

Welcome!

FYI, quick search - I believe that model is built by Nielsen Gun Parts

and they have the following chart

Welcome to our place Pieter

Welcome to AH.

Pieter, welcome to AH!
What little I know about suppressors:
I understand they are much cheaper in SA than here in the US, ie, $200 RSA vs $1,000 US.
I have a 308 caliber suppressor with quick release adapters to allow me to use it on 223, 243 and up to 300 WM calibers. Works OK on all.
If I could afford one for each rifle, it would be best. Alas I can’t.
Your barrel will need to be threaded for what ever the suppressor or adapter is.
If I were you, I’d go ahead and get a 308 caliber to use on your 270.
It will change the point of impact at 100 m/yds of around 4-8” lower in my experience.

Best of luck in your return trip to South Africa!

Hi Pieter, welcome to AH !

Welcome to AH, Pieter!

Welcome to the forum Pieter, you are in the right place!

No suppressors here either Pieter, but welcome to our forum. I'm sure we have members here that can help you!

Hi Pieter. IVW’s advice re: Warrior above is good - but there are multiple manufacturers. Obviously you’ll need the barrel thread cut and the appropriate sized silencer. There are a few gunsmiths in and around Stellenbosch that will do the cutting & fitting for you - Morkel&Crouse at Safari Outdoor, Geoffrey Barrabal at Wildman, John Brussel etc.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
