After many months of deliberation, I have just added this one to my collection. Zeroed with Federal Powershock 140gn, but not used in the field yet.

Nice. Now all that's left is to use it.

Really nice little rifle from a truly under appreciated maker. Now just get rid of that hideous contraption hanging off the front end and you'll have a real classic. :-)

Congrats on the addition! I recently shot a 7x57 and loved it!

Love 7x57 I have a Chilean Mauser re-barreled in 7x57 shoots fantastic

That's the thing alright Clayton. You get a new rifle and then you have an excuse to go use it some place like Africa maybe!! :P Elmer Fudd:

I hope to try for a roe doe next weekend. The bipod is a bit of a necessary evil as a lot of my shots are prone, but it certainly doesn't do anything for the balance of the rifle.
A trip to Namibia for plains game is planned for 2018; I'll just have to decide whether to take the 7x57 or my 30-06.

Take them both.

Yes, that had crossed my mind although I thought there might be a bit of duplication between the two calibres. I'd welcome your views though, as I would happily take both rifles with me.

That makes good sense; I'll start planning on that basis.

Looking forward to getting better acquainted with it tomorrow. The only problem I have found so far is finding factory ammunition; 7x57 is a long way down the list of popular calibres in the UK.

After several blank trips, I finally christened my new rifle this afternoon with a mature roe doe. First impressions? Accurate, very little recoil and minimal carcase damage using a 140gn soft point.

Was the rifle from Steve at Ivythorne by any chance?

Yes it was. Always found him very good to deal with.

Yes, he and Shane are very decent guys. I bought my Mauser from them last summer.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
