After many months of deliberation, I have just added this one to my collection. Zeroed with Federal Powershock 140gn, but not used in the field yet.

Really nice little rifle from a truly under appreciated maker. Now just get rid of that hideous contraption hanging off the front end and you'll have a real classic.

That's the thing alright Clayton. You get a new rifle and then you have an excuse to go use it some place like Africa maybe!!

I hope to try for a roe doe next weekend. The bipod is a bit of a necessary evil as a lot of my shots are prone, but it certainly doesn't do anything for the balance of the rifle.
A trip to Namibia for plains game is planned for 2018; I'll just have to decide whether to take the 7x57 or my 30-06.

Yes, that had crossed my mind although I thought there might be a bit of duplication between the two calibres. I'd welcome your views though, as I would happily take both rifles with me.

If for no other reason, STUFF HAPPENS. As the late Edsel Murphy (see here http://www.murphys-laws.com/murphy/murphy-laws.html ) tried to warn us all, it would be a shame to go so far at such expense and fall victim to his first law.

Looking forward to getting better acquainted with it tomorrow. The only problem I have found so far is finding factory ammunition; 7x57 is a long way down the list of popular calibres in the UK.

After several blank trips, I finally christened my new rifle this afternoon with a mature roe doe. First impressions? Accurate, very little recoil and minimal carcase damage using a 140gn soft point.

Was the rifle from Steve at Ivythorne by any chance?

Yes it was. Always found him very good to deal with.

Yes, he and Shane are very decent guys. I bought my Mauser from them last summer.
