Hey Gang,
I would like to ask for your opinions on what South African outfitters I should try to visit with at SCI. I know there will be dozens and dozens, and I'm only there for Friday. I would focus on plains game and buffalo (rifle). I'd also prefer to fly into Joberg. Other than that, I look forward to reading your suggestions. Also, if you have any specific reasons why you reccomend the outfitter. (Like, best pumpkin fritters, huge dik diks, etc.)
Thank you!

Visit with Motsomi Safaris, I’ve done two trips with them, one for my Buffalo the other for plains game and have been pleased. Several other AH members have hunted with them as well. My reports are here on AH

I would suggest visiting with Frontier Safari’s. I hunted with them in 2023 and had a great time, took some wonderful trophies, and the Burchell family is a class act.

I’ve heard good things about Tsala and Dave Freeburn although haven’t hunted with either of them yet

They look very promising!

Be sure to talk with Dave Freeburn. Great guy to hunt with and he takes care of the business side of things.
How does hunting with Mr. Freeburn work? Is he a freelance P.H.? Does he own the properties hunted?

I've hunted with Tsala Safaris 2x, highly recommend them!! From the JNB airport it is about a 2 hour drive to their camp!

What did you hunt with Tsala, Sir?

On both of my hunts with Tsala I took a lot of 'cull' animals, 10-12 of both blue wildebeests and zebras, as well as several impalas, I also took kudu, black impala, yellow blesbok, warthog, golden wildebeest. If you are interested in buffalo they have some tremendous buffalo.

Most importantly, Brandon and Rouan and top quality people. I've hunted Africa many times and this is my favorite family to hunt with.

I hunted with Tsala Hunting Safaris in 2024 and will be going back with them in June of 2026! On the 2024 hunt my wife and I took Cape Buffalo, Sable, Impala, Gemsbok, Nyala, and Zebra!

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
