Absolute gimmick! It is best at separating people from their money. The cartridge makes zero sense. The hype is an example of the need for Gun Manufacturers to sell more rifles by creating new cartridges. There are plenty of guns that have been on the market for 50 years that will do the same thing with much lest bruising of your wallet and burning out of your checking balance. Err, I meant shoulder and barrel.

I wanted things from the horses mouth so to speak so spent some good time talking to the guys at SCI.

First point is WE here on Africahunting are not the target market. Newer hunters focused on the American west are. Being able to shoot a short suppressed rifle just like Remi, and other YouTube influencers out to 100,000k yards seem to be the cool new thing for any age.

I do think the technology has potential to be cool. Think about how the .375 and .30-06 that we use now have changed since they were invented.

I think the promise is in technology not necessarily the 7mm it’s self.

The problem with this fake hype is that the people they are trying to market it to are so recoil averse the candy as**s will find it hurts their delicate shoulders so they won’t use it anyway. This fad will pass faster than the saum and the wssm fads did.

I agree about the cartridge it’s self but I do think the technology is cool.

I did just buy myself a .375HH vs ruger because the legends never seem to die.

Recoil is a good point as I would love to shoot a 7BC and see the hype but we who shoot .375, .416, .500 are gluttons for punishment as it is.

We are approaching the point of minimally incremental improvements. Bullets, powders, rifles, scopes are very good and much improved in the past 100 years. We need to make the same leap from rocks and sticks to rifles to the next big thing. Think actual ray guns or steerable bullets (both under development). I have no use for incremental improvement at this point.

years ago i took two mule deer out west at a little over 200 yards standing broadside, resting on a back pack prone. i was using a rem pump carbine 3006 with 165 gr nosler bullets at 2650 fps. my BIL and i made a good stalk and the 3006 did them in with one double lung shot each. the 7mm BC would not have killed them any deader at that range. while its true the 7mm BC would make longer shots doable, my self imposted range was 300 yards or closer.

Long range shooting is not hunting. The hunter as you gentleman have so aptly pointed out gets as close as he can before shooting. The challenge is in trying to get so close the shot is a forgone conclusion. If you are in the next zip code it just becomes an exercise in marksmanship.

Good thing no one is forced to purchase rifles they don’t need.
Where is our shaking a cane in the air emoji
And get off my lawn emoji
It’s not that you’re forced to buy something.
But now with some shortages in factory loads and components.
They should get supply back to normal before new super doupper that most don’t want .
Once there enough supply of what they have all ready sold the public.
Then make all of the dead end cartridge you want to

I think that it is interesting but not something that I would buy. I have several 7mm calibers right now and don’t know where it would fit in. For most of my hunting my 7mm-08 would work. If I want to stretch it out then I could use my 280 rem, 7mm RM, or 7PRC. If I feel like shooting targets at a 1000 yards I have the 7LRM in a custom rifle that works great. I can see the advantages of it while using a suppressor, but as I don’t have any it is not a big selling point for me.
Pictured below are a couple of deer that I have taken with my 7’s. One was with the LRM at a distance of 65 yards (really didn’t need that big of a setup but it performed great), the other was with my 7RM at 150 yards. Both dropped in their tracks and never moved. With that kind of performance I can’t imagine needing the newest cartridge that has come out.

I already forgot about it. Haven’t seen it mentioned since last show season.
Neither has anyone else, because up next will be the .300 Back Country. Mark my words because it happened with the 7 PRC to .300 PRC. I’m really surprised there isn’t a .300 Creedmoor. LOL It’ll NEVER end!

Wouldn’t the 300 cm just be the parent cartridge the 30 tc?

I voted that it will be gone soon. IM0, if i can't reload it easily I dont want it. I see it going the way Remingtons Electronic rounds went. Ammo will be hard to find, limited selection of loads, and I think it's going to be hard on barrels. I know the steel case is designed to handle the pressure but it is not one solid piece with the chamber. There is still case expansion, therefore more pressure transferred to the chamber steel. You cannot gain something for nothing. At some point something will yield. I'm good on 7mm's. 7mm-08 to 7mm STW . I'm covered for all my needs that they provide. I have smaller calibers and also larger. I dont need headaches when I have tangible results at hand.

Maybe. I don't know? I've lost track of all these new cartridge ideations and this thread is giving me a migraine. I DO know that Townsend @Bob Nelson 35Whelen is working on his newest wildcat based off the 7.7 Japanese case. The .300 Hiroshima. So, there's that to ponder and look forward to. LOL

I think the 30 tc was the starting point but o not completely sure.

Yeah I’m sure they will expand this technology to the usual suspects and market it as the latest and greatest.

6.5 Backcountry, 300 Backcountry etc.

Why shoot your game at 300 when you can just as easily do it at 900?/s.

I was against it at first until I actually got away from the hive mindset and looked into it more. I have recently started acquiring suppressors and definitely appreciate a shorter combo that doesn't carry like a damn musket.

I also don't care that it's not reloadable or at least not yet. I don't reload and I suspect many adopters of this cartridge are the same way. I have many traditional rifles and cartridges but will absolutely be buying either a Horizon Firearms (Stiller Action) or Hill Country Rifles (Defiance Action) custom in the coming weeks.

Its comical reading some of the boomer fudd remarks in these threads regarding this cartridge or even the likes of the Creedmoor's or PRC's of which I don't own. Some of you guys really are miserable and do shake your fists in the air and yell at the passing clouds, don't you?
