Well, the bullet comes out of the funny looking end...

The conversion from a HR 10 ga. to the big bore is relatively simple, the hard part is finding a gunsmith that will do it.

For the fat .577NE case the doner H&R Handy gun must be a 10 ga. The H&R frame is the stronger SB2 frame.
The procedure is called the " Barrel Stub Method". The original barrel is whacked off in front of the hinge pin and the new unchambered barrel is threaded into the "stub", then it is chambered and then you shoot it.

Until recently, I used it without the brake. That saved me some on ammunition cost as no one wanted to shoot it.

I made and installed the brake for my recent hunt buffalo hunt of 6 cows, it recoils about like a .375HH. Go ahead call me a sissy, but I warn you I am a cryer.

- The barrel is a heavy 26.5 inches plus the brake.
- The total weight, soaking wet, is under 12 lbs.
- The stock has minimum drop which helps significantly with the felt recoil. That is why the sight is mounted so high.
- I am camo nerd. What can I say?
- The recoil pad is a Limbsaver Nitro. it is much wider that the butt stock. ( Very elegant. )

When PH's first see how it rolls up a cape buffalo the are very impressed. I want to say "friggin' shocked" but I never use superlatives.

I have used my own hard cast, 21 BNH, flat nosed bullets and Peregrine Bushmaster bullets.
They both abruptly conclude a buffalo hunt, it's almost anticlimactic.

My next buffalo hunt, which is only pencilled in because I am now 80 yrs. old, will be with my TC Encore, MGM 50-110 barrel and CEB Raptor bullets. I have built a muzzle brake for it too. ( They are habit forming. )

Howa in 223. Nothing special, bounces around in the ute and gets used nearly everyday for culling , you get comfortable with the same rifle and nothing is safe within 200 yards. It’s starting to get tired though, would have 6-7000 rounds down it and the stock could use a tidy up
Gumpy
Nothing like when they become an extension of your arm!

My Savage 111 in 30-06. I recently redid the stock and got a new recoil pad from Hogue. When I decided I wanted to hunt, as a youth, my Dad was worked up because he didn't have a rifle for me to use. It just so happened that he had bought a raffle ticket and forgot about it until my uncle told him he won. The good Lord smiled on us and delivered. It isn't fancy, but it shoots very well!

I was wondering if you had to use the 10 gauge/ ultra hunter frame. Thanks for sharing.

I know what it needs mechanically speaking. Not sure on the terminology but the spring loaded lever that clasps to the underside of the barrels to lock the fore end in place had its tip broken off so it doesn’t lock securely anymore. Welding on a new piece longer than the original, filing to fit, and re blueing is what it needs. Pretty basic fix, take maybe an hour or two of skilled labor.

I used to go near that are quite often when I was in college and dating a girl from the north part of west Texas, but now that all my exes live in Texas I’m not sure the next time I’d be in that area will be at this time.

Hello. Personally, I only use this website for dating. It is on this site that I can easily and freely meet beautiful women and spend the night with them . So if you also want to start meeting women easily and quickly, then this service is definitely right for you. That's why I recommend it to you!!
Got it. The spring lever that locks the fore end broke at the tip, so it won’t latch right. Fix’s pretty simple — weld a new piece, file it to fit, then re-blue it. Shouldn’t take more than a couple hours for someone who knows their stuff.

Cool you used to be around there a lot back in college. Life’s funny how things change with exes scattered around.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
